Oh my god, I would totally spend hundreds for that skirt, even with my frugalista ways. I'd set it up on a dress mannequin and just look at it between very occasional wearings.

Anyone seen the movie the Red Violin? Where they follow a very exceptional violin through the ages and the many different owners? I bet a skirt like that could have a similar story.

Good point Diana, it's hard to believe it's really jersey watching it in the video.
The back reads as a train to me, which puts it in potential wedding dress territory for me - for a very non-traditional bride, obviously. But it has the presence. Would also make great opera wear. Or ooooh, maybe for flamenco??? Because they hitch up their skirts to show their feet....

That is totally gorgeous, and yes, I prefer it with black too.

Rabbit, I saw the resemblance to the Hirst piece, too, which must be inspired by the old Brazillian butterfly wing trays from the 30s (I think?)- 50s. My mom had one (now my sister's), but I collected a couple since then too.

Wow, there is something so faberge/russian princess about this. I would love that with the a&o cropped leather top also or just plain black cropped. That would be so divine Anna. That would be for my fantasy life, but would you have a place to wear this? Spectacular. Almost worth creating an event - met gala anyone?

They've shared iconography/pattern fairly often I think, and I'm guessing it tends to trickle down to other designers and sometimes becomes a design trend.
