Would Western style booties be totally weird?

So, you may recall my citizenship ceremony outfit possibilities:

The weather forecast is for snow, and the venue is a 10-minute walk from the train station, so I am thinking about swapping my Mary Jane heels for some ankle boots. The ones that would work best are a bit like the ones in the photo except the soles are black. Would they look bizarre with a red dress and a houndstooth jacket?

Also, I bought some sheer black hose but if it's really cold I am tempted to wear fleece lined tights. Would opaque black look bad with the outfit?

I'll take some sample pics later today when I'm done cleaning house.

I think the tights will look fine with the dress. As for the booties, I'd like to see of pic of them. If you switch purses and bring a bigger purse, you could wear walking shoes, slip them off and put them in your purse, then put on your dress shoes.

Wow, Mander, I just checked out your previous thread! Now, that's absolutely gorgeous(outfit nr 3) but I like the nr 1, too:-)). Good job on the red dres, and the jackets. I'm in awe about your ideea with the union jack scarf, and the striped knit jacket has some potential, too-I would try it with sleeves scrunched, for a more relaxed look, and maybe then the shoulders will stay in a better place, too. I think black opaques will do the job, too, but I would stick to mary janes, maybe you can change from booties to them before the ceremony? Oh, and congrats on your new citizenship! YLF!

Congratulations. I think your outfit ideas are great.

I am a US citizen who became British a few years back; my town hall was quite warm although it was winter -- so I vote take off the jacket for photos as I love the red dress and the scarf.

Enjoy the ceremony. I did and my husband & son took me out for fish & chips after to celebrate. My top tip get a passport immediately short queues on both sides of the Atlantic and in most European countries.
