Would this capelet go with the goddess dress? ETA: looking for other suggestions

Am thinking about possible toppers/wraps for the greek goddess dress for the rehearsal dinner. It may be warm enough that it's not necessary but on the other hand it may not be, so I'd like to have something on hand. Went and looked at gold and cream wraps but they all either looked cheap or boring. So now I'm thinking my floral capelet from Anthro might work. (Clearer photos in the anthro link)

What do you think? Obviously I will have to try them together but do you think the capelet goes with the dress, and is it dressy enough? A different option would be just my Nanette Lepore shrunken black blazer.

PS- I won the ebay auction for the gold J Crew clutch so I'll be using that as a bag!

I am not sold on the capelet. I feel like it is not sophisticated enough for the dress and JCrew clutch. But then, I may just be a bit conservative on this!

I'd have to see them together. I'm worried it will hide the waist and become Too Much Volume for this kind of event. Gut reaction is that it might really dress it down. But you don't know until you try! Cool clutch! I think the blazer is probably way too casual.

Or the Bellatrix? I think it might be too dark and/or long though. Ugh I'm so sick of buying stuff for these events. I want to use something I already have!

Also, here is a photo of the black blazer in a dressed up outfit. It does dress up quite nicely.

I'd like to see them on, but I would think the black blazer would give the outfit a whole different feel... a feel that you may not be going for.

Do you have a little cream cashmere cardi? That might give it a dressy-retro feel.

Claire, I have a cream bolero type cardi. But it feels too casual, and I'm really not into cardis these days anyway. I could be convinced otherwise though so here is a photo.
White blazer is too casual I think.

Blah, this is hard! I suppose I *could* just give up and get a cream pashmina. So boring though. (Also, I already have a cream shawl that I knitted for the wedding day but I don't want to steal its thunder by wearing it the day before.)

OK so far I'm thinking:

capelet: too casual, maybe too voluminous
black blazer: too dark, too severe/businessy
Bellatrix: probably too dark/wintery, possibly too long
cream cropped bolero: too casual, also just not into cardis
white blazer: too casual, probably too long for dress
cream pashmina: will probably work but boring.
other shawl/wrap: I thought most of the chiffony ones with gold metallic/sequins looked or felt cheap, plus not warm at all.

any other suggestions? I'll still try some of these on before I nix them for sure.

How about a black box leather short jacket so it just sits below the sash of your dress? so it gives the impression of coming in at the waist and back out again and possibly making the bottom half of your dress look longer?

Oh I feel your pain Diana! It's can be difficult to find the final piece that completes the outfit. I think the capelet might be difficult to make work because of shape and colour tone. I picture something a little more ethereal for the occasion. Would love to see a pic of you wearing the dress with the knitted (clever girl) cream shawl. And maybe the shawl will have to do double duty.

I think if it goes a little more casual would be fine actually; I'm pretty certain I'll be the most dressed up person there by far, since I'm the guest of honor.

I like the capelet - it looks fairly light and floaty and the fabric picks up the colour of the dress very nicely. I hear you loud and clear about not buying something new for one evening.
