I have been looking for a red shoe. This one appeals to me:

It checks a lot of boxes:
-leather (not patent)
-reasonable heel height
-closed toe
-ankle strap
-some detail
-affordable

My only hesitation is that the studs are gold rather than silver. I primarily wear silver jewelry. My neutrals are black, white and gray.

With a preference for silver jewelry, would the gold studs bother you? Will they still work with gray?

I think metal mixing is totally fine now, and these studs would be far away from your silver jewellery.

I think metal mixing depends on your tolerance. I don't mind it (my watch is mixed and I've had it for 15 years), but I remember Angie saying she can't do it herself. Would it really bug you? Or are you concerned that it will bug others? If it is the first, then don't buy. If it is the second, then buy!

No, not at all. And the shoes aren't, like, covered in gold studs or anything. I have shoes with silver on them, and I wear primarily gold jewelry, but in the end, you have to be okay with it. If it bothers you deep down, then you won't wear them as much as you would if the studs were silver.

No bothering me at all. In fact, I think the gold is better suited to that red. But either way, I agree with everything Ceit said

I can mix metals sometimes but I do prefer silver (and tend to black/gray as neutrals); for me personally the gold studs would bother me. I agree the gold works better with that red than silver would, but I know I would find myself passing them up constantly because I would feel like they just didn't "go" with most of what I wear. JMO!

I used to be fanatic about not mixing metal but I just decided to get over it. When I look at what someone else is wearing I have never noticed the color of the metal embellishments they have on and if they sport different colors. The shoes are FAB and would work with grey.

It wouldn't bother me but I mix my silver, white gold, and yellow gold all of the time!

I think mixing metals is perfectly fine! Honestly I don't think twice about it and I don't even usually notice it on others (unless to say, "hey that's cool!"). They will definitely work with grey.

Angie recommended these pumps for me a while back, by the way. The heel is too high for me though.

Often I'm a metal matcher, but you know with these shoes... I maybe think metal mixing is mandatory. They're pretty punky.

I like matching metals on necklaces and earrings more so than purses or shoes. I say go for it!

I think Sal of Already Pretty is in the habit of painting over the "wrong" color metals. I've used black nail polish for a thin coat over too shiny bright gold shoe buckles. Worked great. Something like model paint may work well.

Years ago, I used to use something called Rub N Buff that worked really well to change metal colors, though you get a more matte, antiqued look, which is what I was going after. Pretty sure they still make that.

They are fab, fab shoes! I don't think it would bother me, but you have to be comfortable with it yourself. Vildy's ideas are good to try though too.

If they're comfy and you like how they work with your wardrobe, go for it! Most people wont even notice the different metals, I bet and many are fine w/mixing colors

Honestly, I don't mind mixing metals. Especially something as far apart as shoes and jewlery.

Yes, the gold would bother me personally, but only because I don't like red leather with gold hardware. But I have no problem with mixing metals in general. If you like the gold studs, I wouldn't worry about the fact that most of your jewellery is silver.

I guess it's not just mixing it with jewelry (and I do have some two tone pieces and occasionally wear both silver and gold.) Maybe it's weird but I have this thing...in my mind, gray and black "go" with silver. Creams and browns go with gold. So with my neutrals being black, gray, white and a bit of navy, gold doesn't "go" with those clothes.

I'm sure that is a very dated thought process so I'm going to listen to those of you who say mix away!

I really do like everything about them, assuming that they are comfortable, so I think I will try them.

I like Vildy's idea of changing the stud color if it bothers you.

I know what you mean about silver with black and gray (also navy in my book), but I don't worry so much about it anymore. For me, though, I'm more self-concious about shiny metals, as my taste runs more toward matte ones. That's why I like Vildy's suggestion. I haven't tried covering or toning down metal hardware, but it's nice to know it has worked for her.
