Would this be a great summer dress?

I've noticed that all the dresses I won are not "me", which is probably why I don't wear them much. The colors and patterns don't really fit my style. So I don't really have a specific style or shape in mind, but I came across this one, and liked the B&W with the chevron pattern. I also like that the top is solid, not chevron all the way up. It's look comfy for summer, but are maxi's way out of style now? I have no idea. I also like some of the fit and flares out there, so maybe one long and one short would be good?

This dress is really cute. I think maxis are becoming more on trend this year.
The dress has a casual, kind of elegant feel, great for the hot weather.

I have poison eye for casual maxis, so bare that in mind - (one on a list of 4 poison eye items in total). They just don't make sense to me however you slice and dice it. That said, I love high-low casual maxis because the front looks like a midi, and to my eye that makes all the difference in the world.

I think it would look good on you...but I am wondering about practicality if it's a casual dress for with the kids? I somehow think I would get a long skirt all caught up and messed around...but that is perhaps me and my clumsiness talking!

No, you are right Suz, I thought of that too. I think midi length would be more practical around kids, especially since the youngest is always climbing up my leg.

I love the dress and I'm sure it would suit you however I do wonder if it's more in the "imaginary life" category knowing what I do about your lifestyle right now. I can really see your figure in one of those striped tank dresses that are out there right now and at some great price points. Gap had some in the window that I intend to check out....

I think it would make a great summer dress, but I also wonder about the practicality of it for your lifestyle. Old Navy, Gap, and BR all have some really nice fit and flare and A-line summer knee length dresses, have you checked those out?

Looks like you might be set already, but like the others, i question the practicality of the white top (the bottom pattern is terrific camouflage!). Also, Maxi dresses seem great, but I wonder about them with little ones.

A midi skirt might be better.

Before I invested in a maxi like this, you might want to test drive a less expensive one from Target or Old Navy. See if they work for you at all, and if they do, then donate it and upgrade.

I love it, but I should disclose that I always look for a maxi dress every summer to no avail. Maybe this will be my year. Are you going to give it a shot?
A side note on GAP and ON: Sometimes the fabrics are too see thru and flimsy for them to work.

I'm still on the fence, Zap...I do really like it. I even considered hemming it if I find the full length too cumbersome. But I'm not sure how that would look. Still thinking....lol, all decisions are hard for me

I like it too. A lot. I think this type of dress would look amazing on your smaller frame. My issue is that the maxi dresses tend to exaggerate my wider hips but I am still looking.

Maxi's are becoming a classic staple in California I think. This is nice, but I have to admit I don't quite see it as being you.
