Worth the price tag?

I am in serious lust with this coat but I am having trouble deciding if it is worth it's AUD $230 price tag.

I don't have any coats so I will be buying one for this winter (Southern Hemisphere).

I live in Cairns, North Queensland, Australia so it will only be cold enough to wear it a few months each year. I have other thinsg from the same designer which I absolutely love.

If its in your budget go for it cuz this coat is an investment piece and wardrobe staple thats gonna stay for long. And the color is nice.

I just converted it to GBP, that's quite a pricey coat to me and I wear coats from September till May! I personally prefer a bit of variety and would probably want 2 different coats for that money but I guess if you love it, it fits great and you can afford it, go for it x

Louise, unfortunately we have no choice but to deal with incredible mark-ups in Australia (unless we order things internationally of course)

As an example, I found a lovely Karen Millen coat at our department store Myer the other day. It cost $679 AUD I think, which is 455 GBP. I then did a search and found out it used to be on ASOS and the full price there was $446 AUD or 299 GBP. http://www.asos.com/au/Karen-M.....D&r=3 Even bigger price gaps between here and overseas are more typical.

If I was to get a made-in-China short coat from Sportsgirl (which is a bit like a less flashy Topshop) the price would be $169 AUD.

Of course we can find things for under $100 but we are really getting into no-name fast fashion territory there, so it depends how picky we each want to be. ^_^

Afterism, it's a beautiful cut. I know you don't *need* it but the fact that you're looking tells me you love coats and want to capitalise on any chance to wear them.

Given that you know and love this brand (I don't but I'm curious now!) I think you should get it (if possible try it on first) and wear it at every opportunity, even if it's for half an hour in the morning before the sun's fully up. The fact that it's a few dollars (and given what I said above, it's hard to find a good coat for less) means you will want to maximise your wearing and that's a Good Thing.

Soooo beautiful! Of course it depends on your budget, but it looks like it's worth that much. Can you stand to wait a bit and see if it goes on sale?

That is a lovely coat, I say get it *if* you really think you'll get lots of wear from it. I spent 8 months in Palm Cove and Cairns when I travelled Aus and although I know I only have one winter to compare next to your whole life, I have to say I was roasting the whole time ( and I'm a really cold person!) and couldn't bear the thought of a wearing a coat.

It is gorgeous tho :0)

This is a beautiful jacket.Besides the constrains Fruitful mentioned I would say that is this is a jacket that you love the color and the shape flatters you it is surely worth the price.
In my opinion this kind of item that can work as a statement item it is worth spending a little bit more.

Yes, I completely agree with the others, FWIW. If you can work it into your budget and it is the only expensive coat that you have ( or the only coat ) , you will get allot of wear from it. If you already know that you love this designer, then chances are that you will wear this coat for years. I say do it...as long as you don't go into debt for it.
