worth breaking my SYC??

Yesterday I made the mistake of going to some stores.
I found this cape from French Connection with such a great discount (it was 250€ and now it is 70€). I was looking for a cape for ever, this one seems to fit well and to have the perfect lenght.
The problem is that I do not what to break my SYC..
Is it worth?

From what you say, you've been keeping an eye out for this and it is not easy to come by. Sounds like a planned purchase that fills a wardrobe hole at a good price. Just my two cents!

SYC is so hard!! I sympathize. I like the cape but I don't know if it's killer enough to break SYC. I say, march on with SYC and save your pennies for something fantastic at the end.

I think you can make an exception for something you've been seeking for such a long time. I say go ahead and get it....then go back to SYC.

SYC is kind of like a diet, IMHO. You need to make some exceptions (like having a piece of cake on your birthday) and break it sometimes, but the important thing is to not let that become a habit and undermine the whole effort.

Linda, it means Style/Shop Your Closet. It basically means you will use the clothes you already own and won't buy any new clothes for a set period of time,

What's the timeframe for your SYC plan, Rute? I hope it's not too too much longer!

I don't know, it's such a definite style - do you think you will get your wear out of it? I'm thinking that unless you are madly in love with this look, hold on to your money for something fabulous for Spring.

I can see the appeal, and it's a look you could totally pull off and then some. I'd review for yourself what your goal is in SYC and take inventory of your outerwear "capsule." Do you, for example, spend a lot of time in your coats, as more urban dwellers do? Living in the Chicago suburbs, I need the necessary puffer and an excellent "car coat." Still -- I don't walk in my coats very far, unless I'm walking the dog, so I've tried to allocate a little less of my "fashion quotient" to them. When I spent a lot of time in NYC, I had a larger coat wardrobe.

My SYC will end on the 1st of June! The end seems so far away!

That's my fear, winter has ended here, it's already too warm for this cape, and I don't know if this style will be in next year..

Rute - this is a beautiful cape and you look lovely in it. BUT....(don't you hate when there's a but?) I bought a cape in the fall and to be completely honest, have worn it three times. That's it. And like you, I wonder if they will still be big next fall/winter. Just something to think about. However, as far as capes go, this one is a fabulous classic style. It's a tough call.

Tough one Rute. I think that this does look lovely one you, but I agree with the others saying you should stick to your SYC. Are you sure you would get lots of wear out of it next winter? You're right that winter is almost over so maybe you should save those pennies for some awesome summer clothes.

Perhaps this is a test to see if you stick to your guns? ;0)
