Worst Summer Shorts Ever

Oh dear, Rick Owens has a case of Dropsy! I can't think of one redeeming quality about these crepe shorts. And GASP look at the original price-- $1,360!

Is there any way any of us could wear these?

Well I might be crazy, but I actually love the style of the shorts. I think they could look quite sleek and even dressed up with a blazer. For me, the problem is the color. The skin tone takes them into a look that reminds me of underwear. But picture them in black or navy - could be quite chic.

Hmmm. These are odd. I can sort of imagine them in black, but the stretchy looking beige makes me think old lady.

Angie could wear them and look stunning, I'm sure.

No no no. I'm not the biggest fan of harems and drop crotches anyway, but this color just makes me think of undergarments gone horribly wrong.

The black and gray aren't as bad. I believe these are meant to be worn with a complete RO emsemble, with usually includes long draped layers over. Taken by itself, it's a bit weird, but when matched up it might still be weird but in a fabulous RO way.

This takes more creative vision than I can muster. I'm not sure I can get that weird altered-anatomy beige toned picture out of my head to imagine the black.

Rick Owens fashion is very high style. I love the drape of his clothing. And base many of my FITS on something or other that he as created. I agree with IronKurtin This is just a base for multiple layering.

I like drop crotch, but I don't like the construction of the shorts. Why is the crotch two half circles sewn together? It's very visible in the picture, in this champagne colour. It's producing a sort of morbid fascination in me.

Ha ha. My first reaction was undergarments, because of the color. I certainly couldn't wear them, but I suppose someone who really likes harem pants might give them a try!

I quite like them actually. I gasped when I saw the grey and black versions all styled

...but I'd never pay that much for shorts!!!!

I guess I would have to see them on a real-life person (not a static model), but I find them just bizarre. The compression-garment color and style makes me think of medical fetish people. And like Rachylou, I can't stop looking at the crotch in the main picture. I want to look away, but I can't. It looks like the lower torso of my Beach Malibu Ken doll from 1981.

Yeah, I'd have to say I'm with Janet on these. They might be nominally better in black but that's because black obscures how awful the crotch is. Whenever one has to hide the details of a piece, things might be bad.

I kind of love the black ones as they have them styled. But the beige ones look like underwear gone horribly wrong!

OK, the true awfulness of these shorts is that when you click on the link to see them, you then have ads from the site following you all over the internet, and each ad features a thumbnail picture of those shorts in beige, looking like some crazed medical garment/hot water bottle from the 1920s. : )
