Worst purchase of the season

Ski boots! I went once at Whistler over thanksgiving. Nothing since, finally have some free time next weekend. But there's no precipitation in the forecast. Local resorts are still saying early season conditions.

High-heeled ankle boots, fabulously solid yet elegant boots ... in a town with a lot of hills that require descent. What a joke. Fortunately, did not wear them out of the house, got to have the eye-opening teetering-down-hill experience in other boots of similar height, so was able to return them.

Ski boots or after-ski boots? The former are good for years, so hopefully you will get good use of them later this year or in the years to come. Tahoe snow is sparse; we skied several days but it felt like Spring skiing.

My Helmut Lang heavy wool moto. Current line, pilling like crazy, and I think it is going to feel dated fast. Sigh.

At least you know you can wear your ski boots next year, and the year after, and...

Yeah, but I only get free fitting and tweaking from the ski shop for one season.

My brother has postponed his annual trip there -- he usually goes at Christmas and was going to go in January instead...now he's going in February.

It's been warmer at the top of crystal mountain than in Seattle (and clear and sunny up there, too!) the past few days. We're going up there tomorrow for the kids' lessons. I'm hoping that there won't be any lift lines...

I hope you get more snow weather. My worst purchase has been wedge sneakers. I adore the look, but the wedges must've been too high and I've been struggling with an inflamed nerve in my foot for the past 4 months already! Ugh!

All this ski talk really makes me want to learn how to ski (and then regret buying all the equipment) Worst purchase would be a black leather jacket, biker-style. It looked really cool in the store but it doesn't seem to go with anything else in my wardrobe. It's almost painful opening the closet door and seeing it just standing there.

Well, not this year but a year or three ago I bought rain boots. The rubber kind. It hasn't really rained since. Makes me feel like I brought on the drought. I worry that the rubber will rot before I get to wear them. Last year or maybe the year before I bought a trench. I'm sure it deepened the drought. At least it doesn't have to be raining not to look ridiculous in the trench since it's red.
