I really like the black pair but am undecided on the blue as I feel the crop is too short and doesn't go with the shoes. The material is really good quality on the blue pair and the fit feels comfortable on both pairs.

pictures 3-4 blue pair
pictures 5 added a jacket to see the silhouette
I just want them as functional pants so I can dress up and dress down. comments and suggestions appreciated.

Thank you Star. Do you think I could get away with those shoes and the blue pants? I like to have minimum number of shoes. What other shoes would go with them?

Love the dark floral top. I actually like the fit of the blue pants better. Don’t think they’re too short, but I’m not the pants length expert. Do you need to choose one or the other?

Btw, after what Synne told us her brother said, I expected much less refined pants, lol.

I actually like them with that shoe. I would wear them together for sure. I, like FI, actually prefer the blue pair. FWIW, I read your profile and we have similar style preferences, ie. rock chick 70's/80's, all though mine is evolving more to classic with edge, instead of just edge. It's probably time for me

Thank you Fashionintern. The dark top was my mother’s’. I don’t suppose I need to choose but am not sure if I need two cropped work pants. I didn’t read the comment by Synne’s brother. Was it the term work pants?
Thank you Star. I think I need to get less edge and more classic too as I’m nearly 50. The blue pants are more than twice the price the price but the material quality attracted me. It’s really good, not the flimsy material like in a lot of women’s trousers.

I think the blue fit you better. The black look a little big from the side. I might try a size down, Neither looks too cropped to me and I think you could wear with most shoes. The boots fill the gap and definitely work. Two pair of work pants doesn’t seem excessive as long as you have tops that work with them.

I like the second pair better snd the shoes work. They are a slimmer fit.
The black pair are a good alternative leg style, but I’m not sure they fit right- I’m concerned are too saggy. Hard to tell from the photos.
I struggle with pants fit a lot because
1) pants are hard to fit! and 2) I like ease in the fit, not tight in crotch or bottom, so have tended to get them too loose or poorly fitting that way instead of being more picky about which style or brand “ gets me”.

The blue pants fit better in hips and I like the length too. The black pair of pants might work with minor alterations.

From what I can see Sally, pants in pics #3 and #4 are a better fit. They are not cropped though.... do you think they are?

Pants in #1 and #2 are nice - do you need to size down? I like the fluidity too, though. Length looks good with the those boots. Those are cropped.

Love the blouse in #1, and yes to the blue pants. I think different shoes would work with the black better.

@JamC I think you are right ...two pants are not too much but need to make sure I have tops that can work with them.
@star It is really hard to find quality material for women's pants.
@unfrumped I struggle with work pants too to get a good fit. I have to wear reasonably fitting or my bottom looks flat.
@slimcat. I"m wondering if you mean the blue pair might be better with alterations. Hard to tell as the navy pair in pics one and two are also very dark.

@angie. You are right. the black ones in 3-4 are not cropped. I'm not sure what you call them ..cigarette style? I am definitely keeping them. The other ones are on hold until tomorrow at the store. I can't size down because it is fitting very firmly on the waist and quite firm on the back side. I think it is the style and I would have to alter them or style them as they are.
@suntiger. yes the blouse was actually my mums and she doesn't wear it so lucky score. I will have to experiment with different shoes and the pants.

I really like the dark blue pair! The black pair are almost there but maybe they are not the right ones, if they fit well in the waist and rear, but not in the thighs?

I have a similar issue sometimes with pants, so I can empathize!

If they were already in your closet and you didn't have very many pants, I would say keep, but since you are thinking about purchasing or not, I would wait to find a pair that are closer to perfection :). I don't have much of a defined waist, so I seek out pants that have elastic along the back waist, or are fully elastacized (joggers in luxe materials, e.g.), so I can then fit to my hips and thighs, and worry less about fitting to my waist, IYKWIM.

update: I got my pictures mixed up but I"m not going to change it as I can see what everyone thinks. The first pair are dark navy and the second pair are black. I think the first ones are not the best fit for me (well not as much as the 2nd pants which I'm definitely keeping) but Angie seemed to think they were ok. I just need to decide if I need a 2nd pair and if I do, are they good enough? I keep making these kinds of mistakes with details....luckily I've just gone on holiday.

@Jonsey Yes the 2nd pair do have elastic at the back of the waist. They are from Zara. I also do not have much of a defined waist but have very slim thighs so its hard to find pants that fit. What I should probably do is save up and get a tailor to make me some pants.

The pants with floral blouse look a bit too big in hips , the pair with solid top looks great to me ( I’d like to have that pants/boots combo ).

I like both although they do not look like they are the same size. Be careful with navy blue I have two different navies from the same brand and just saw a third shade. One would work together in the same outfit. Look at possible tops in a good light with the pants.

I like the second pair better. They give a nice line and appear to fit well all over, whereas the first pair doesn't appear to fit as well in spots. I think the second pair will be very versatile.

Ha, as I was reading the updated thread today I was wondering if I got the pics mixed up, and then you explained. Yes it is the 2nd pair that I think looks better, which seems to be the black that you liked more in the first place I recall you saying the blue were double the price, so I think that if you not that keen and the others fit quite a bit better then they are probably not worth it.
