working with colors?

What colors do you have in your wardrobe hat you like, but have trouble working with? I have always had a good eye for color in that I can match things I see in stores that are quite often the very same shade of something I have at home. same with paint colors, and décor for my home. But I have a great fitting pair of dark navy dressy narrow straight leg pants that do not seem to go with anything but pastels and grey. Black footwear seems to work ok, but I never really like it. I definitely do not try to match navies as there are so many different shades of navy. Have worn them with white top under burgundy sweater, but this is so limiting.

I honestly think navy is easier to pair with colors than black is. Do you wear brights at all - turquoise, fuschia, yellow, cobalt, magenta, red, Kelly green, orange, coral? All great with navy.
For more muted shades - olive green, as you said burgundy and grey, blush, taupe, cognac. I guess I would put pretty much anything with navy, think of it like denim.

I wear taupe shoes a lot with navy pants and denim. I also think metallic is good or cognac. Once you have the shoes feeling right with the pants, it seems like the top would be easier (to me at least). I think a rust or caramel top with cognac shoes might be nice. I think metallic shoes are pretty easy to pull together in an outfit if I add some jewelry in the same metals. Then many colors would work on top using the navy as the neutral.

I'll be honest, I mix my navy's all the time. I just try to add a 3rd piece I another color, almost any other color, to add interested and sort of distract from the fact that the navy's don't match perfectly.

I find navy fairly easy -- it is one of my favorite colors. Besides navy shoes, I like metallics (pewter especially) with my navy bottoms.

What I struggle with are browns -- I don't like red browns with green browns or gray browns, etc. I have a couple of pairs of shoes I struggle with -- stylistically, I wouldn't wear them with jeans (that would be easy!) but I can't figure out what they do belong with! I've come to the conclusion that I treat brown like a color rather than a neutral, and I need to give myself permission to use it in the same way I use black and gray.

I think cognac gives me a little trouble - I don't even know why exactly, I suspect it's just me getting used to wearing it. I have a great cognac belt, shoes and handbag "capsule" but don't wear them nearly as often as my taupe, navy, metallic or white capsules. I'm going to work on it this fall.

vivid colors like green yellow and colbalt blue. I love seeing them in my closet but I cannot seem to get used to wearing them.

I am another one who has trouble with navy! I don't know what it is, but I seem to be able to wear it only with white, cream, etc. I don't have problem with denim, however. Call me crazy.

I also struggle with browns. They can be warm or cool, with different undertones. I do find my few brown items easier to work with than navy, though.
