Can any of you recommend comfortable low-heeled shoes for wearing to work? I need something with a decent amount of cushion but that still manages to look nice with skirts and dresses.

Most of my shoes, while comfortable through the a.m., start making my feet unhappy mid-afternoon. Unlike my last job, where I spent most of the day stuck in a chair, this one has me running around a lot more.

* I have narrow feet, so straps are good to keep shoes from slipping off
* I'd prefer a heel under 2"
* arch support would be nice

I highly recommend any shoes by Clarks or Born. I have wide feet with a narrow heel, and I've been most successful with these two brands. Clarks especially has a lot of arch support and cushioning, and has some styles that are more modern. Most heels are 2" or lower. Also, they last forever - you may get sick of them before they fall apart!

I find Clarks and Borns lack good/cute selection at under 2" ... if you're willing to go up to 3", they have much more selection.

I have had luck with Hush Puppies for the 2" height - but I must confess my 3.5" Borns are by far more comfortable than my 2" Hush Puppies.

I've had good luck with Ecco ballet flat (and flatish) styles. It looks like they offer some mary jane's, too.

I have good luck with Clarks and Borns (Born Crown especially are super cushy - I wore my purple pair this week and they were the comfiest I wore)

I agree regarding Clarks - I have a few different pairs and they are extremely comfortable. Check out the Aerosoles website too - I have two pairs of their shoes and they are crazy comfortable!

I've been under the impression that Borns catered to wider feet. I guess I should look into that.

JJSloane, are your purple shoes 4 inch heels like the ones you linked to? They're very cute, but I don't think I could wear shoes that high all day long.

I was going to suggest Sofft, but then I went to Zappos to check them out and the cute ones are all 3" or more, and the 2 inch heels are granny shoes, WHATS UP WITH THAT?!?!?!?

Have you tried Cole Haan?
I haven't yet, but the flats are tempting me.

Born are very comfortable, I have a few pair. I have the second pair here. I find them super comfortable and I normally hate heels.

Amy I didn't notice that, but no my purple ones (which I cannot find on the internet anywhere) are lower.

Ok I stand corrected, I never would have guessed but I measure them and they are 4 inches, but the platform is 1/2 in at the toe and 3/4 inches at the base of foot so I didn't even notice. I usually have back ache and sore ball of foot from anything over 2.5 inches.

Sofft are good too - forgot about those.

I sympathize as I don't do heels really well for an extended period of time (think I can manage from the car to a dinner table but that is about it). I also have narrow 9 1/2 size feet so finding cute comfy shoes is challenging. Thanks for posting this as I will also be looking at some of the recommendations.

I have narrow feet, and Borns are definitely wide on me.

Cole Haan with Nike technology is FAB, but expensive.
