Okay, the arm waxing post made me think about other types of body hair, and facial hair came to mind. Although few women want to admit they have facial hair, many do. Many dark-haired women have dark hair on their upper lips; some women have downy hair along the sides of their faces; many middle-aged women have hairs that begin to show up on the chin; some women have downy hair along their normal hairline, and some women have very full brows or brows that run together in the middle (sometimes called a "unibrow"). Some women bleach their facial hair to disguise it, but that often makes it all the more obvious in profile, for example when light can illuminate any hair along the bottom of the chin.
So my question is do you have facial hair? Have you ever? And do you remove it or otherwise attempt to disguise it, or would you if you had visible facial hair that displeased you?
As for myself, I have very fine hair on my upper lip. My mum assures me it is not visible, but that is likely because I have waxed or otherwise removed it since I was a teen. I think it started out as self-consciousness about something that probably was invisible at the time and then simply became habit. As time has gone on, I have started removing any possible hair on my chin as well. I have never SEEN hair there, but I have to assume that most of the women I see chin hair on haven't noticed it on themselves, either, and I'd rather be safe than sorry. I feel the same way about facial hair on women as I do about arm hair, and that is that it is none of my business. I control my own grooming, and that's it. I have no expectation that others share my insecurities!
