Positive update from me here - I am near goal, just one pound away. How I lost the weight is not so great: I simply lost my appetite while in my funk, and without trying, the weight just started slipping off. I'm down 5 lbs since my last check in.
Not the best way to lose weight, I know, and I certainly don't recommend! We'll see if the weight loss sticks - I'm determined to make it so. Have been exercising (jogging or walking). And although my mood has improved a lot, and along with it my appetite, I'm being very, very mindful of portion sizes. It would be very easy to pile it all back again. Lesson learned was that the eyes want more than the stomach really needs, and I realize now that was my big problem. Portion sizes crept up on me over time. What I am eating right now, is the amount I need to eat to keep at my goal.
Also - one word: dairy! When I lost my appetite, I relied on dairy (cheese, yogurt, milk) because it is easiest for me to choke down when I know I need the calories but absolutely nothing appeals. There's something about dairy that seems to keep my appetite in control for hours.
I do feel like I have a whole new wardrobe - lots of things I packed away because they didn't fit quite right, fit again.
