I showed this dress in an earlier post and decided to keep. It is what I am planning to wear to an evening dressy charity event. I'd love to find not-black, but no luck recently.
In photo, planning on Adrianna Papell dress, a black and sparkle necklace, Hobo silver leather clutch; dressy ( for me) Van Eli black suede pumps. The black dress is hard to show in my photos but see Find views; it has a diamond-grid velvet pattern on the skirt and a plain black bodice, open areas on outside of sleeve, and low V back. I've got the attached sash tied in a bow if it's not too twee. The dress actually has pockets! It's not super-elite dressy wear--the bodice is just a jersey knit--, but was the best I could find recently that remotely ticks the boxes I need for fit, sleeves, high neckline, length etc.
Shown with sheer black hose; I've also tried with sheer nude, which I would wear for more daytime event and also could consider for this event since it's warm autumn and if needed to relieve all the black. However, indoor ballroom lighting it may not matter. Pic 2 tries to show the necklace better. I think the outfit looks a little better IRL because of the movement of the skirt, and the V back.
Also for the try-on I added little sparkle bracelets, but maybe should remove, for simplicity and because despite being sparkly, they are stretch bracelets (a plus for me as fit my wrists) and so perhaps not as formal as the necklace. I'm not going to wear any watch, I think.

Suggestions or comments welcome!

ETA: I have added "lighter" versions. All these are with nude hose but obviously there are multiple variations possible!

3-4 are with a vintage necklace that was my mother's-faux pearl with some faceted glass beads. Pearls are good for me, just not sure if this is too "costume" though of course, all of these options are NOT "fine jewelry".

5 is a gray/tan sparkly necklace. This a necklace that is a great way to add subdued sparkle to outfits, but don't think it's as good with this dress, and this is as short as I can adjust it.

6-7 is just a purely fun sparkly choker that I had considered before; I like a choker with this dress neckline and this is REALLY sparkly, so great for evening wear, but wasn't sure if it is just too light-weight/faux.
