WIW...summer bags, etc.

This summer I am rotating the 3 bags pictured below:

Harvey's seatbelt bag
Fossil striped tote
Jansport back pack

I pick the bag based on my outfit. The Fossil bag adds a pop of colour to my otherwise neutral wardrobe and I use it when I am wearing blue based outfits. The Seatbelt bag is used when I wear black based outfits. The backpack is used on days when I will be doing a lot of walking (Thursday is library day).

Inside are:

Red wallet
Purple change purse
Day timer
Pen
Keys
Plastic bag
Tissue
Sleeve for glasses

The sleeve is for when DH hands me his sunglasses so they don't get scratched! I often add a lippy, small notebook, and a measuring tape. I no longer need to carry a pouch for 'feminine hygiene products' but used to always.

Can you post a better pic of ht Harvey's bag? Love to see yours, as I have a Harvey's bag too... mine is used in the winter. I love it, it looks dressy yet is so low maintenance. I was very glad to be carrying mine when a colleague dumped a cup of coffee into it at a conference... I was able to rinse it out in the sink!

I'm carrying my silver Millie, and my turquoise Hobo, for the most part. With the occasional visit from my cobalt Danier, and citron Kate Spade. Happy colours plus a neutral.

Oh, and a black small Longchamps for cottage weekends and soccer games

I like your striped bag! And the content is so colorful!

At present I am using a small white clutch where I can just put wallet, keys, office badges, tissues, lipstick, phone, chewing-gum. If I need to take something else (yoga clothes, snacks/fruits, bills to check) then I also bring with me a pretty backpack.

I noticed that working women, including my coworkers, do this a lot - taking the "pretty" bag and another "convenience" bag.

I keep pretty much all my bags in rotation year-round, but the heavy-hitters are the two cognac Fossils—crossbody and tote.

Inside I keep a little pouch with essentials like tampons, lipstick, solid sunscreen, and ibuprofen. Also, a reusable bag, keys, wallet, phone, and pen. In larger bags, I’ll also add my iPad mini (which acts my eReader), my Moleskine planner notebook, and a portable charger.

I use two summerbags (totes) and one small satchel.
Your picture of what is inside reminds me off a (mens?) site, called edc " every day carry" where men showed what they had in their pockets.

I missed the organized bag class somewhere along the way, and my purses and my work backpack are absolute nightmares at the best of times. Despite having bought every lovely cosmetic bag, eyeglasses case, planner/pen set etc etc, my bags are a sea of receipts , kleenex, sunglasses, eyeglasses, Tic Tac containers, pens, notebooks, and all of the lipsticks I can't seem to find when I'm getting ready in the morning .
I've given up trying to be *that* person.

Elizabeth, Janet - I love that silver tote. Gorgeous. And the turquoise hobo too. Carla - that Fossil tote is a real classic. I've always loved it and wonder from time to time if I should add something like that to my summer collection. Perfect for tossing things into on an errand-running day.

Here's my summer rotation - minus my red Prada satchel, which is about 15 years old and still going strong.

Olive leather Coach, black leather Coach/silver hardware, white leather Kors, black nylon Marc Jacobs/gold hardware, blue leather Marc Jacobs.

I have been trying to find a new summer bag for a couple years with no success. I'm being ridiculously picky. But, I scored a vintage woven bag so I've been carrying that a ton this summer. I've also pulled out an old hobo bag from my archive and I use various clutches for going out. I don't have pictures or finds for of all of them.

I use a purse organizer to keep everything in it's place and make it easy to switch purses. For smaller bags and clutches I usually just grab my wallet, phone and lip stuff.

Primarily using this older grayed blue Longchamp tote this summer. But it is worn out on the corners so considering adding feet or replacing it.

During fall and winter I use my navy and black Longchamps. I like the fact that they are light weight as I overstuff my bags. I throw in packages, sweaters, books, etc. However I am wearying of the search for phone, keys, etc.

I have a lighter fabric crossbody/shoulder/waist bag for walks only.

For the occasional dressy occasion I carry a black quilted fabric DNKY bag with fabric and chain handles.

I have other bags but these get almost all of the use.

I don’t categorize my bags as summer or winter. These are the bags I’ve been using the last couple of weeks, and the stuff I generally carry. I’ve been taking a lapidary class, and have used my grey seatbelt bag because the location is dusty, and I need to carry extra stuff. We use grinders that are water cooled. After getting drenched the first class, I started taking an apron with me. Here is a finished cabochon, and one I’m still working on.

1. Vintage Coach bag, Harvey’s seatbelt bag, Sak crossbody, Sak guitar strap crossbody.
2. Sunglasses, reading glasses, keys, owl wallet, and doodad bag.

Lisap, they are Vivienne Westwood, bought via Yoox. I bought my wallet at an exhibition of her clothes. Liked it so much, quality too and now have 4 bags.

I'm mostly carrying the silver sylon backpack to work, because it's been raining, and with my back injury (slowly recovering), a backpack's distributed weight is just better for me right now. I also carry the straw tote or fanny pack (ahem, "belt bag") around my neighborhood.

The others are what I'm carrying when I feel more able to use a shoulder or crossbody bag. The white one (top row) is my new pet, to replace a white one that didn't work out and is going to my mother. Even if I can't carry it this summer, I'll get use out of it in the future. The light blue (bottom row) has been a workhorse, along with the backpack.

I love seeing all these bag collections! Here are mine (like Jenn, mine is a year-round assortment, rather than seasonal) -- pure function, but I'm really in love with all four of them. The Baggu circle bag is new this spring, the turquoise Flowfold tote was a Christmas gift, the Lemur convertible clutch was a birthday splurge las year, and the Tom Bihn has been around for more than four years -- it was my "diaper bag" for DS and my only bag for quite a while (it was preceded by another green messenger bag that got stolen -- I still miss that one). I'm not including my backpacks; those are exclusively gear and would merit a separate post.

This is definitely the most bags I've ever owned, and I'm toying with the idea of adding one or two more (gasp!).

Love the striped bags, RunCarla! And wear that library badge proudly! I love all the turquoise bags so many of you are showing off. LOL, Elizabeth P! That's why I can't go bagless. My current every day bag (minus the days I need a backpack or the very rare formal occasion when I carry the clutch), is the Fossil Corey Crossbody in marine.

Below the first four are my most common summer bags plus a cotton army green one not shown. Except for the first, the others are used year around. The others are used in F/W. I have additional bags but I am thinking I should pass some on. Haven’t shown my totes beyond the one I use for Nordstrom returns.
