WIW:New Turtleneck and "lab coat"

New red turtleneck, microcheck slacks (already chopped the turned-up cuff but still need to let down a bit for PPL), totally dead Rocketdog black flats with bow, and white lightweight trench. I took the trench off to teach and felt under-accessorized. Husband thought the trench looked cute, but other family members thought it looked like a lab coat... Ideas?

Are we sure this red looks good on me? I wish I could figure out my 'season' so I could gain confidence with color!

I think the red looks very nice on you. I think the trench is lovely, too. If your'e concerned about lab coat associations, I think that changing all of the buttons to black ones would really change the look. Then again, I have a white short trench with black buttons that I love, so I'm a bit biased.

The colors were great, both red and the white. JennyAnne had great idea to change the buttons! I think that would really kick it up a notch!

Hmmm. I like the trench in theory but I understand why they made that association. Claire had a white trench; maybe she will weigh in with some ideas.

A long pendant probably would have finished the second look. If you have one! I don't have any myself and find myself frustrated at times. A scarf would also do the trick.

I think that red looks lovely on you. Colour analysis is enormously tricky but if I had to guess I would say you are likely to be a cool summer (sometimes called true summer), looking best in cool tones of medium to medium strong intensity. Like Kate Middleton. And like me, even though our hair colour is different.

But monitors lie and I may be completely off base!

to see where you fall. I like her categories because they are so much more than winter, spring, summer or autumn. I love white coats and I agree that changing the buttons might change the vibe. If you don't like black, a two-toned "horn" button with black/grey or brown/khaki tones might do the trick. You look terrific in both the red and the white!
