So, I'm trying to get our wood burning fireplace WETT certified before the end of this week. We use it at Christmas time, and that is about it. The damper has always been hard to manipulate, and frankly, I think it has been stuck on open for the past couple of years. (Not very energy efficient, I know.).

The inspector said that everything was good, except for the damper, so I didn't get the cert. The place I thought might be able to service the fireplace doesn't do it anymore. Now we are into the long weekend. DH won't be home for a month, so....

....I google around and read 'fixing a fireplace damper for Dummies'. 3 hours later the fireplace is neat as a pin and the damper works like a hot knife through butter!

Oh! I made sure I adhered to the outfit and safety recommendations!
