WIW + Would Nordstrom take back...?

Do y'all think Nordstrom would take back a $1000 pair of shoes I wore once without a receipt and only my Nordstrom card number and bought this summer? Or is that asking too much and I should eBay the shoes or something? The toe box is just a little too short, although the overall length is right.

This is what I'm wearing today. Took my car into the shop and wandered over to Macy's this weekend while I was waiting. Like the bad girl I am, I bought two leather blazers-jacket thingies and this "haute tie-dye" top. I couldn't really pass up a "haute tie-dye" top, could I?

Love the outfit.
I was once in Salon shoes buying a pair of shoes. There was a woman trying to return used designer shoes because they were hard to walk in, too high or something like it. It was a bit of dicey excuse. They did process the return but told her it would be a one time thing. So I don't know if they put a flag on her card.

I think I would ebay them. But then, I feel bad returning shoes that I've worn only around the house to see if I like them...once the soles are marked in any way, I feel they are no longer returnable. So I think that's just me.

I love that jacket and I love, love, love those pants on you. They are so modern without feeling over the top. And they fit perfectly. Do you feel comfortable wearing them to work, or are they weekend wear only? I think I would love them, but I would feel like I stand out too much at work (my office is either super casual jeans and t-shirts, or very conservative business wear).

I like your new top and the porportions going on in your outfit.
I have no clue about Nordstroms but I am guessing that without the receipt they may make a little more difficult to return unless they give you store credit.

I have never had to pull out a receipt since getting my card - it's all in their computer. As for this particular return, I don't have any idea but you can ask. Maybe a store credit? I once took a return as a gift card.

If you paid with a Norstrom card it shouldn't be a problem. I would try to return, at least.

I would *absolutely* return to Nordies! I know (from experience) that they will take back (and give full credit to whatever card you use) for any item, even a yr ( or more) after it was bought. They have outstanding customer service....call their CS and they can look up your order #, so you get full credit. Im afraid you wouldnt get close to even if you ebay or consign it, and that is serious money that you paid...good luck!

@Kristin SF, I'm wearing this at work now. I feel I only stand out a little. It's a little dressier than what a lot of people wear in my office, but there are also a lot of fashion plates around.

Thanks all for the props. I pushed myself a bit to get this jacket. It's so plain and simple, I was on the verge of leaving it behind because it didn't have anything *special* about it.

The shoes are weighing on me because they're so close to right, but they're not there.

I am not sure about the return on the shoes. If you didn't wear them outside or they are not marked, I think it would be okay.

Love your outfit today! Definitely an 11 out of 10! I was pinning jackets like that like crazy but settled for something inferior, wish I had held out for something like yours! Where did you get it?

As for the shoes, can you windex the soles to see if they look unmarked? Do you still have the box and shoe bag? If they pass as unworn, I would try returning. Otherwise, I would feel uncomfortable about returning (sorry).

Nordies has a great business selling used shoes on discount at The Rack, so I wouldnt let that bother me If it was a small amount, I'd probably let it slide and try to recoup some of my cost on eBay or more likely, consignment , but for that amount? Oh HELL no! lol

Sigh. I did wear them outside, which is how I know they won't work. If Nordie's could just take them off my hands, it would make them the best store ever... I don't know what to do with them... they're a day off new.

I wouldnt hesitate for a second, returning them... wipe them off, send 'em back to Nordies and get that pile 'o money back! They *are* fabulous that way, believe me! They will recoup some of their money (and write-off the rest) much better than most people can!

Is the jacket INC? If so I bought it too (online) but ordered the wrong size and had to return it.

You should definitely return the shoes. It helps if you have the box, but either way they are probably going to the Rack as used, where they mix and match boxes, anyway! As long as you're not making an excuse that sounds like you bought them with the intent of returning them, which you're not - they don't fit right! - you will be fine. It's completely OK.

Rachylou! Fabulous, fabulous outfit! So cool, and you wear it so well. I am thrown off my chair. I want those pants. Wish I could see more of the haute tie-die top, though, because I have no idea what a haute dies-tie top is.

I would wipe down the shoes and give the return a shot - what have you got to lose? If they say no, then try and eBay them.

I'd take the shoes back to Nordstroms, but be honest with the SA that you've worn them once. That will get you farther than not saying anything and having them think you're trying to pull one over on them. The other thing to do is to just ask for their advice -- i.e., "is there any way that these can be stretched or enlarged a little bit..." even if you know the answer is no. Showing that you are earnest about wanting the shoes will set you apart from those women who buy expensive items for one occasion with the intention of returning them all along.

Yikes! That is a lot of money sitting in a closet. What is the issue specifically? Some Nordies have a shoe department, they could stretch the shoebox or perhaps suggest other fixes. You will get a lot of mixed responses on the ethics of trying to return the shoes. I would try to return, but I would not try to pass them as unworn. To be honest, my Nordies does not even open the shoe boxes when I return. That makes me nervous. If Jenava is telling you to return, I would do so!!!

Me and these shoes have been through a lot. I tried them on in the store, but seemed to be between sizes 9 and 10. So they ordered them for me in a 9.5 and sent them to my house. Trekked out again to have those stretched because they were tight... and well, it didn't help. They don't fit any different from the 9s...

all the more reason to return them. you've worked with the shoe and the shoe didn't fit.
