Not best photo and not best armholes. But I was happy enough with this buy to wear straight out of the box.

Yes, skirt is way too big and won't leave the house like this.

Top, along with a navy sleeveless buttonfront swing top, replaces a couple of stretched out plain ribbed tanks. Those were moss green and chocolate. Bought for neutrality and versatility. Not been favourites as hoped. Will these less versatile but more fun pieces do the trick?

Earlier this year I gave myself a restricted colour palette. And resolved to look for 'staples' with a bit of 'special' (to induce me to shop for the boring holes). Then recently acknowledged I need more knits.

So here goes. Want to wear this with boyfriend jeans. Any other ideas for different silhouettes for a WAHM?

Mani, your son is too cute for words. He has such a lovely smile!
The lace neckline looks gorgeous on this top. This will go well with BF shorts or a denim skirt too.

I think the top is very nice, I like the lace detail. I think it will work fine with skirts or BF jeans. Do you wear skinnies? I wore a lot of skinnies with flowy tops when I was home with my two kids.

I would think that tanks are a staple during Summer. Lace adds a nice femininity. Brava! I love Lantana idea of linen pants and Ceit's new silhouette suggestion. I'm going to suggest that you look for some striking color in your flip flops. I understand that they are the best choice for working at home and think you could have more fun with them!

The lace-trimmed top is really pretty. Great idea for adding that bit of "something." I like all the suggestions so far -- your idea of BF jeans, linen pants, clams or skinnies -- really, it can work with so much.

Lantana, I'd love some! Not found the right ones yet but on my wishlist for years. But this reminds me I have a white skirt---will try that as soon as I fit in again.

Beth Ann, thanks for thinking out of the box for me! That's a great idea! Thong slippers are to me what specs are to many here. I bought these maroon silk ones when I was drowning myself in go-with-everything neutrals...and going nowhere! I'd probably choose sapphire now!

Ramya, I will! Just threw out my pilling dhoti-ish harem pants though---got a lot of wear in pregnancy with the high belly band! But I will see how the harem pants work, per Angie's suggestion. They might have a similar vibe, though the narrowing at the ankles is an advantage of the dhoti or jodhpur styles.

Beth Ann, I will keep my eyes peeled for sapphire :-), especially now that I've chosen a colour palette with a clear emphasis on blue (my favourite colour anyway and easy to wear).

Well, I will be honest and say I'm not always in love with my role---sometimes I'm a (good) bit tired or bored when left alone with a pre-verbal baby, though I'm lucky not to be running after a tearing-around toddler yet! And there are times when I am just plain terrified of being a parent. But I rather suspect I'll be looking back with much fondness on these days.
