WIW Week 7 M: Limited colors in action

OK I lied. I do allow lots of colors in my socks, but no one ever gets to see them so they remain my secret.

- Inhabit cashmere shawl
- Inhabit cotton cardigan
- H-C long tank
- Rag and Bone skinnies
- Ksubi boots

I love the texture on these boots. The heel was shortened by my shoe guy. You can see my Happy Socks in the pic. They do not show unless I flash them.

This looks great IK, your scarf looks super cosy

This is pretty much my daily uniform at the minute; slim jeans, heeled ankle boots with a jumper and scarf, although it's from necessity for me as it's getting really, really cold now. I've also recently culled my colour palette to one similar to yours, just minus the grey with some warmer creams/browns in there. It's so much easier shopping and getting dressed that way isn't it?

I am much happier and more secure and feel more like me this way.

It helps to identify the things I really like and ONLY wear those. Yeah yeah, everyone says that, but you have to get there on your own sometimes, you know?

Those are my colors! It's a palette I've always gravitated toward naturally, but one that I started cultivating deliberately when I moved and had to shift from seasonal dressing to a more season-less wardrobe. It makes me happy too, and I feel that the limited colors help everything to function as a neutral, almost. I am 100% with you on Team Neutral Apologist.

Great boots, too! I'm so curious about having heels made lower. Does it affect the balance of the shoe? And if you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost? I have shoes that I don't wear very often because the heels are too high, and I would love to try shortening them.

@Parsley, it doesn't cost very much; I don't remember how much, that's how nothing it was. It costs more to have a new heel and rubber sole on! To see how much a heel can be shorted, put the shoe on a desk or flat surface, with the heel near the edge. Drag the shoe back and tip down. You can shorten to whatever length keeps the sole flat(ish). The shoe guy will ask you, but this is a decent rule of thumb. These shoes were sick high and are now wearable, which is great.

Just to give you an idea of the before height - these are not the exact same boots (lower shaft), but the heel was the same.

It *is* hard to work out exactly what it is we like when faced with so many choices. I like this color palette on you. You really know how to work with different textures and layering to keep things continually interesting.

Wow IK. You totally nailed the proportions on this one. I always thought you had a great handle on your personal style esthetic but you see to have refined it. Perhaps it is more of an evolution than a fixed state.
