WIW: Wedding Party Afternoon Tea

Hi Ladies,

Yesterday we drove to Melbourne for the day to attend an afternoon tea with the bride and groom and the wedding party (DH is best man).

It was at the Groom's brothers home which was just beautiful. The brother is a vet successful software developer and we sat in the fully equipped indoor/outdoor area overlooking this tennis court and swimming pool...that's the life:)

I suspected it would be quite casual but I still wanted to dress up a bit so I wore black skinny jeans, a new inky blue cape like blouse and my wooden wedged black peep toe booties. Kept accessories to a minimum and wore a thick silver ring and cuff that follow a similar design line and drop silver earrings.

I love this top. I've added extra photos to show the design features. It's a simple sleeveless top with an over layer that mimics a cape like style at the back.

Angie, I am always on the look out for ink blue but there is not that much of it around so I was pretty excited when I found this top. I'm eyeing a navy Complex Geometries dress at the moment too...hmmm

Joy, I find the cut and style really important when looking at ink or navy as the wrong cut combined with the colour can look a bit dowdy.

Can you (and others) pls advise me, I'm not doing many pants based outfits nowadays, but always wondered how would such a charizmatic top like yours work with any of a pencil skirt, and then what shoes? Or are the jeans and booties only elevating this top's edgyness, if possible even furthermore?

Lyn the top woks great with my black pencil skirt and the booties worn here:). That was actually what I had planned to wear until I realised it was a more casual gathering :). I think a pencil skirt outfit can definitely look edgy:)
