WIW: VC tube skirt attempt - YouLookFab Forum

First off - I'm still trying to figure out how to take good pictures of outfits so any tips on that are appreciated!

Today I'm wearing VC tube skirt and a drapey purple top from American Eagle. It's hard to see in the photos but the sleeves and upper back are sheer.

I am struggling w the topper here. I feel sort of frumpy in the long cardigan but don't know what else would work. I tried my black blazer but it looked funny with the top hanging out, I thought.

I had initially tried different footwear too. The first pic is with the Clark's rose point booties (cut off, thanks DH!) but I felt seasonally inappropriate in them so changed into my anthro platforms (#2).

Should I have worn a belt? I feel very shapeless here.

Any comments criticisms and help appreciated!

You look great! I don't think it looks shapeless at all (admittedly the waist surrender look can be hard to embrace). You have basically followed Angie's formula to debombshell a pencil skirt!

I think it will look great with those booties in the fall.

I think this works brilliantly! Love you in that skirt and the proportions of the top and cardigan are perfect IMHO. I especially love it with the booties.

This is a great look for you. The waist surrender balances well with the taper in the skirt. I like it best with the booties, and, with the bare legs, I don't think they're seasonally inappropriate, although they may be too warm.

Are you choosing the topper for warmth or to cover the sheerness? If not, I like the outfit best without topper, but I think the one you've chosen work.

I'm glad to hear that the cardigan isn't making me look frump-a-dump.

Thanks for the comments on the booties too. Next time maybe I'll have the courage to wear them out. Last time I wore booties with a dress, an older male that I work with commented he thought it looked "weird" and asked me in a not nice way "why are you wearing those?" So humph.

I do need the topper for warmth for some of the day...my morning office is actually quite warm so I'm going without, but my afternoon office is chilly.

I think you made the right choices with #2. I think a shorter or tucked top to do the blazer.

I love the color of the top. Sometimes if tops don't hit me right - too long or boxy, I will get a pony tail holder (the same color as the outfit) and bunch the top to one side or roll and tuck. How about a low slung belt or a scarf or statement jewelry? I like it better without the jacket as the colors are both dark and it just blends in together. You want to show off the pretty shoulder detail as well.

I love these VC tube skirts and you've got the formula down. I'm really fond of #1 in color and silhouette.

As for posting pics, Debora told me about the free app, Gorillacam, and I love it for its timer. I put my iPhone on a music stand and then go take my photos. Hope this helps.
