If you had gotten to the event, everyone would be so distracted by how fab you looked that they would have great difficulty concentrating on the reading, so really you were performing a public service by being late. Hope your shoes survived.
I guess I'm a total outlier. I do not think the shape of the shirt goes with the skirt. The curved hem in the front looks like a half-tuck which seems too casual. But the back is what really stands out for me. The split back lines are at odds with the box pleats. The long parts hang down too long with the center part displaying the stitched down parts strangely. All the lines compete.
You look beyond perfect. You hit every single mark from professional to comfortable.
I read Anna's comments and went back to look at your WIW with her comments in mind. I concluded that I still absolutely love this look. I don't see what she sees. To me, it works perfectly.
Thanks, all. And Anna, I appreciate your careful analysis. You may be right, but it felt good, and had a high happiness factor. So I will probably wear it again.
I love this, Suz . And you have inspired me. I often want to step out of my fashion flattery box but then I hear Stacy and Clinton in my head and go back to a safer silhouette. Though I would not have thought of this as conventionally flattering, it in fact looks much more modern and takes a classic skirt and makes it fresh and fashion forward. I will have to remember this next time I shy away from trying a new combination. In fact, looking at it again, I might just try this with our CM blouse and a similar tomato red skirt I have!
I'm going to use Carter's "stunning"-- to describe the whole outfit and the individual components. I have that skirt in cream and black, and it received rave reviews the couple of times I've worn it so far. I'm playing organ for a wedding tomorrow; I think I might use your outfit as inspiration. You chose fun earrings, too.
You look especially beautiful and happy in these pictures.
You look like a million bucks in this outfit, Suz. I love the addition of those bold new earrings, too. That's so weird about the invitation. Truly weird, not to mention annoying. Glad you got to wear this outfit, in any case.
I read Anna's comment and I politely disagree. The conical silhouette works very well in my opinion. It's unusual enough to dress down with a pair of silver flats if you decided on a more casual vibe. I think you have a pair of those?
