My dad and I had wanted to see the Picasso exhibit together last week before Thanksgiving, but our plans were postponed by the snow, so we got together yesterday instead.

Angie and Anna, you were right on - the exhibit was fabulous and HUGE, and I'm glad that we made time to go.

Previously to visiting the show, I didn't know that Picasso was also a sculptor and worked in mixed media - I had really only known about his paintings. When I saw the connection between his sculptures and paintings, and how he often did paintings that looked like his sculptures (and vice-versa), the "penny dropped". It was fascinating to see his realistic paintings prior to his experimentation with cubism. Like Anna, I appreciated that he always had a subject of his work - even if the subject was only subtly visible in the finished piece.
There were certainly some pieces that I appreciated and enjoyed more than others, but overall I feel like I gained a much better appreciation of Picasso's art and intent beyond what I knew before.

I also treated my dad to lunch at the Steelhead Diner (where we had our YLF meetup brunch.) So delicious.

My outfit was pretty simple compared to what Anna and Angie wore, but I felt comfortable and chic in my tweed asymmetrical coat, stone/beaded earrings, and Frye Rory boots. The scarf was a kind holiday gift from a colleague who thought that the red strands would look great with my hair. She was right!
