Hi Ladies,

First outing of my new patterned ankle jeans (navy and cream). I know this is not going to be everyone's cup of tea but this is one of those times where figure flattery and leg lengthening is forfeited for my happiness and comfort.

Your thoughts and suggestions are very welcome and I know you will be kind:). I was tempted not to post but I really like these pants and I plan on wearing them quite a bit both with and without a heel. I can see them working casually like this but also for work with a heel and jacket.

Today I'm wearing them with my silver flat loafers to hopefully create a low contrast so as not shorten the leg line any further. Top is a ink blue with black side panels and sleeves. I added another long pendant before I left the house. Tried it with my navy duster (#2) but I do think a cropped jacket will be a better option.

Gone to the movies with DH this morning to see Skyfall:). We both have Tuesdays off work and this way we don't need a sitter.

I love the colour palette!

You know that I have a really hard time with this type of trouser Debs, but I want you to feel great. So if this style makes you feel great - there you go

You look so pretty in these blues, and the shoes are an 11 out of 10.

I love the pattern on them, Deb! And you look so spectacular in ink blue. I think they work here with the loafers and I am sure they will work with other footwear, too.

Angie, yes I know how you feel and I think you are correct about this style of pants. I have been wearing them for about 6 hours now and while they are comfortable, I somehow don't feel as crisp and sharp as usual. These have at least an extra 1.5 cm in length if I take the hem down. I wonder if that would make enough of a difference to the length? Do you think heeled ankle boots will make these more pleasing to your eye?

In case you are concerned, this is the only pair of ankle pants I own and I don't plan on purchasing any more. I do hope however that I can work out the styling (particularly footwear) so that I can have an YLF approved version too:)

Angie, I loved Skyfall! I have to say I find Daniel Craig and incredibly attractive Bond. The scene where he jumps into the train carriage after being shot, etc and takes a moment as he adjusts his shirt cuffs is very sexy:)

Deb...if you wear them with booties....that is the secret Angie recently posted! I know it is not too summery. But I also know you have some higher vamp summer shoes/ bootie type sandals, correct? Hmmmm.....

I own one pair of ankle pants and I am wearing them with booties. But I must say, they felt great when I first put them on, but I have decided to let the hems down on them. They still won't be PPL, but they will be longer and (I think) longer enough to make me feel better. The thing is that when you wear them they shift about and end up feeling a bit shorter than when you first put them on. So I want to "cover" that problem if I can. So to speak.

Suz, I completely understand what you are saying. I am taking the hem down on these as we speak:) It's funny it's more about how they feel than how they look for me in this instance.

I also love your blues and the silver loafers sooo much, Deb, and actually don't mind the shorter length(your ankles are so pretty:-)) -just wondered about the functionality of the longer duster to this ensemble-which IMO seems to accentuate the shorten length of the cropped pants...I think crops will do much better without the duster.
But, see how they are working after lengthening...still crops, but maybe will have a better feel.

I have taken the hem down and this has added about 1.5cm making them almost the same length as my black trousers which I have added a pic of for comparison see #3.

Great that you were able to lengthen these pants, although I liked them as they were-showing a bit of skin in this in-between weather.
How was the movie? I have heard some good reports, and it is good to find a movie you can enjoy with your Hubbie!

I like the pants and think they look great on you. You have such long legs, you can pull off the ankle pants and flat shoes. I like the way you kept the top very simple.

I think the duster is brilliant with this. And the third picture is classic Deborah haute style. I've been missing from the forum of late and missed your outfits!

ETA -- Looking forward to seeing the pants just a bit longer. Although I also like them the way they were as well.

Lyn, thank you! I think our eyes may be quite used to seeing crop and ankle pants as they do seems to be very popular here:). They are certainly a comfy length to wear and good for running around in flats.

Denise it's good to see you back..I have missed your posts also. I do think the pants are going to feel better with the little bit of additional length. And I am thinking of shortening the duster to knee length. What do you think! I always enjoy your perspective Denise, I think we often view things in a similar way and have an appreciation for similar looks. While I do tend to default to a more modern classic look, I really like "alternate" fashion and am not particularly driven by a need to wear (or fit in with) what everyone else around me is wearing:)

Deborah, you are always the most stylish lady ever! I liked the shorter hem on you, because everything else was so considerately put together. I have a pair of black pants in exactly the same shape, and although I feel good in them, I also see that the length is not doing very much for me. Maybe I will follow your example and alter the length. Your blue colors are perfect for you!

I like the patterned pants on you and love the blue and black colors. The pant length look fine to me. They are very popular where I live and I think my eye is used to the length. I have a couple pairs myself and like how they look.
