WIW To avoid jeans

I'm not as in love with this as I was with yesterday. I don't know that the cardigan goes. Actually, I think I will swap it out for the blue. It's too much hand knit, but I'm cold!

The blue cardi looks better with the skirt I think. I have been doing a similar look lately, because I am just sick of wearing jeans all the time, and I am obsessed with being comfortable at the office. So a pair of cozy fleece lined leggings on cold days and a cute skirt with a cardi--its the bee's knees! I don't think its too much knit, personally. You could make it funky with a pair of Doc Martens or something like that.

Fleece lined tights will help. I like the blue cardi, but I agree it looks a little stretched out. Could you re-block it?

Echoing the others that the blue is beautiful on you. Do you have tall boots? Those could work too and may help keep you warm.

I don't think it's too much hand knit but then I love that kind of look; I do think the colours in 2 work better. That scarf is gorgeous & flatters your colouring beautifully.

Do you have silk long johns? My mom got two pairs of the leggings for me when I went off to college in the Midwest (from Texas) and ten years later they're still going strong and make a *huge* difference in terms of warmth. I can wear them invisibly under average tights, especially if I have ankle boots or taller to hide the hem bit. Otherwise I just scrunch wool socks over top, but that might be a bit casual for you, I'm not sure. And I don't get uncomfortable wearing them in central heating, even though I overheat quickly. They're a kind of magic, I'm convinced! I often throw on a regular silk cami as my first layer up top too, to give my core the same boost.

Thanks for the solutions and suggestions, everyone. I was cold, but that's because I don't have fleece-lined tights! I like the long-john idea, too. I've got some, but they're thicker (and bright purple). I thought about boots as well, but I"m navigating some foot issues and was looking to rotate heel heights a bit.
I clearly have a lot to learn on the layering thing.

The sweater would do with a re-block. that's a good idea. I also thought about putting in some ribbon around the collar, to prevent further stretching. Still, at the end of the day, it IS too big. I knit this to fit a me that was 30 lbs heavier. I'm not really in the mood to re-knit it. Not yet, anyway. But the yarn is lovely.

The blue tonal look is lovely.

I don't mean to frighten you becky but we are still having Autumn weather right now even with the recent drop in temperatures. If you can I would try to stock up on some fleece lined tights (double up your opaques if you have too) and some light thermals (uniqlos heat tech are good) now because it will get colder.

Thanks R&J. I've never lived in a climate like this. It's a steep learning curve to be sure!
My flatmate told me today she hadn't worn shorts in 4 years....
