Great suggestions upthread about adding a blazer or tie; may I also suggest an unbuttoned vest on top to take it to work? For a more old-school vibe, maybe with a boutonniere added, or a pocket watch... Or one of those secretary pendants (glasses since you wear them?) Or going the other way, add just a leather cuff and your quilted booties.
