WIW: the dreaded ankle pants

Heading out for another week of travel, but will be stranded in a store-free zone of New Jersey so my shopping hiatus is safe. I'm dressed today for air travel and work, as I will go directly to meet clients and then conduct focus groups about vitamins. (Don't you envy this exciting life? Haha)

Shirt: Brooks Bros (best for crisp white, no iron)
Vest: Bennetton
Chalk stripe ankle pants: Gap (washable!)
Metallic heeled loafers: Bandolino

I like the ankle pants! I would like if the sweater vest was cropped, but it looks good for travelling.

Love that vest. I rant about ankle pants because it just seems they now dominate the marketplace, and pants that are long enough for me are hard to find anyway. (I also don't think they're the most flattering on my build) I think they look marvelous on other women, including you. Nice outfit!

Having grown up in NJ I am shocked to learn there is a store free zone anywhere in the state. Regardless, you look terrific. I really like the sweater over the white blouse.

Yes, once in a great while, one arises from our midst who manages to look just fine in ankle pants, and without skyscraper heels. You are a lucky one viva. You must have a nice long leg line. I can see your waist, even under your cute chunky knit vest, but a cropped vest or pullover would show that much more leg line. Great outfit all around, and I love the crisp white BB! Have a productive, shopping-free day.

I lived in Jersey for awhile, too. Can't imagine a mall free zone, unless you're near Princeton!

I like that whole outfit on you a lot. I think they work for you, and it's amazing with the footwear. I think it's important to have the right skimming tapered fit and you got that perfectly proportioned for you.

TammyW, I don't think ankle pants are a strict no-no, but I believe Angie is a major advocate of long pants, quite long, and those of us who still have ankle-pant-love do seem to be a minority. I wouldn't return them if you love them, but I am pro-ankle and wear them quite a lot actually (wearing another pair today). As some have noted here, it may be because they work particularly well for my build, I don't know. I just love how they look on me, which is pretty much how I make clothing decisions.

I actually like ankle pants (when it's not cold!), despite Angie's cautions, and think they look great on you! And I love the cozy vest!

Thanks for the response Viva. I really love rolled up boyfriend jeans, so I guess I am one who likes things not all the way to the floor sometimes as well!

Regarding the pants I got, I'm not sure I love them. I wouldn't mind finding a great pair of floor length pants, but I am really struggling to find a gorgeous pair that would stand the test of time.

Any recommendations?

Tammyw, I would search for posts on Theory pants. They really seem to get the best buzz from Angie and from other posters as far as great trousers go, if that is the style of pants you are looking for -- modern cut but classic feel. They are an investment but seem to look great, wear well, and last long. I may need to start building a little Theory fund so I can invest in a suit! I know Suz wears a lot of Theory, and others do too.

PS I love rolled BF jeans too -- and I also need a new pair of trousers. We must be YLF soul sisters.
