WIW : Suit with Tee - YouLookFab Forum

Hi Fabbers,

I have found it difficult to find the type of tops I want to go under my jackets for Spring, so I had an epiphany! I see Emmanuelle Alt wearing slouchy tees with dressier pieces so I thought I would give it a go.

I bought two (one white and one grey) Bonds basic short sleeve tees and have tried one out today. Very basic outfit as a lot going on and I am quite exhausted this week, not a lot of time for anything:(. Bring on the weekend:)

I don't wear tee shirts so this is something new and different for me:) I like the idea of the contrast between a casual tee and more dressy pieces.

You will note I have now joined that elite club op people who are photo bombed by there furbabies! And then Master 10 and Dexter wanted in on a "proper" photo:)

The outfit consists of my winter slouchy pants, white tee and frequently rotated black slouchy jacket. New necklace:). I did pop on my black and white skull scarf to jazz it up but didn't get a pic;)

So what are your thoughts on the tee shirt idea? Workable?

Appreciate your thoughts on this.

Did you size-up for slouch?
The drape amps the style up a notch from just a Tee, as does the necklace.
I look forward to lots of pics with Dexi in the background, and Master 10 looks smitten

Sorry to hear that you are exhausted. I think the t shirt works and that you have upped the anti a bit with the necklace. Would you be comfortable if you had to take the jacket off?

And Lyn, yes I forgot to say I did size up. I went with the L and I can wear it semi tucked or just untucked and there is a nice bit of drape/slouch to it. The tee's were only 10.00 each but they didn't have black in stock

@Deborah, I feel terrible trying to give any advice to you. It would be unreasonable and arrogant from my part - I hv much more to learn FROM you (than anything to teach or advise). So I will just say that I love the juxtaposition of casual and dressy. I guess the same idea is, for example, behind Angie's ensemble pencil skirt+nostalgic tee, which is one of my favorites.

Yes Anne, I think so. The tee has short sleeves. Though I am initially thinking of Springtime in the a/c'd office with my jacket on.

Deborah the suit plus tee looks oh so fab.
I am interested in your choice of a tee because I have been moving steadily in the other direction. Reason being that tees just don't stand up to my sunblock. They all develop a nasty yellow stain that will not shift, even with the dreaded bleach which I try to avoid using at all costs.
But I haven't worn Bonds tees for donkeys years. How do they perform in your experience?

Fantastic Deb! I like the softer tee under the jacket - it's dressed without being stuffy and ever so comfortable!

And a wave to Master 10 and Dex - If we lived anywhere near each other I bet your M10 and mine would get on like a house on fire while we got to play around in each other's closets!

I often use and feel the best in my good quality tees to my dressy jackets, find it more relaxed and fun. Love it here, too!

I think a t shirt that's well-cut can solve a million problems and function as nicely as any shell or silky neutral blouse. It just works. I like tees also because I'm busty and they fit well and flatter, I think (as long as they're not a crew neck) and I don't have to put so much energy into them--I just think of them as the requisite layering piece under a cool jacket or a sweater.

I love it! I like to use a tee to dress down pieces that would otherwise be too dressy or formal for my casual workplace.
