So yesterday's outfit was pretty much a fallback one for me. My mindshare is elsewhere and I'm stressed out. So it was pretty much "go gray, black, and ultra comfortable."
I'm stressed because one of my two wiener dogs, Oscar, ruptured a disc in his neck about a month and a half ago (dachshunds are prone to degenerative disc disease even at a young age and this scenario is not at all uncommon in the breed). We've spent the last 6 weeks with him on anti-inflammatory steroids, pain killers, and muscle relaxants to see if it would resolve without requiring the need for surgery (which often works when combined with about a month of rest). He'd have good days and then bad days --but ultimately, it isn't resolving medically so now they have to do surgery to remove the disc.
His surgery was supposed to be yesterday. Then the surgical neurologist had another dog come in with an emergency fractured back, which required immediate surgery. So now Oscar is scheduled for surgery today at noon. I just want to see the little dude back to his happy, healthy self and can't stand to see him in pain. He's a rescue who already has severe separation anxiety issues and this has made those far worse as well.
So if you all have some positive energy and good thoughts to spare, please send them Oscar's way! I added a couple photos of Oscar and his "brother-in-fur" Dash in happier days (blending with my furniture. Oscar is the dapple who actually matches my vintage cowhide chair!). These guys are the hooligans you may occasionally catch glimpses of photobombing my WIW photos.
Anyway, enough sharing my stress story! My fallback outfits tend to be very RATE and usually black and gray. Yesterday was no different. Temperatures were also forecasted to fluctuate a bit, so layering was a necessity.
It's hard to tell in the photo but I am actually wearing a sleeveless hooded and drape-y sweatshirt material moto-style vest by Helmut Lang over a cropped leather moto jacket. With the addition of the tunic length tank I had the option of removing either the leather jacket or the vest if it got warmer later and the outfit would still look decent (turned out it stayed cool all day so all the layers stayed on).
Finished the rocker look with some funky silver jewelry and my Frye Jenna Skull boots. I love these boots. They are super comfortable engineer style and the silver and brass studs radiate out from a profile of a skull on the side (I included a picture from Zappos of a close up so you can see the details better).
So, I was stressed out mentally most all day but at least I was comfortable!
