Unfrumped, I appreciate your comment about proportions and backside issues. It’s something I check when I make a purchase, but then do not pay enough additional attention when I am creating outfits.... I also relate well to the ideal of curating wardrobe items that mix and match and work well across multiple seasons. One off items take too much space and are not used enough for the downsized, more environmentally sustainable life I anticipate in the next couple years.
Jonesy, Yes, the cell phone distorts proportions. Your comment made me realize that the mirror in the seated pic is angled away at the top, which also causes distorted proportions! Some day I should make an effort to improve my photography methods!
Liz, I am working from home, so sneakers are comfortable and safe on my hardwood stairs. Historically, I have preferred shoes or booties with a heel (low heel). My back and shoulders feel better with my Sneakers so I will probably continue to wear them indefinitely. Sometimes pointy toes on flat shoes look better to my eye than sneakers.
Sloper, I have several longer length blazers which I have previously posted. Two of them are less fitted than this blazer but they are still sleek. I have one oversized blazer that is not sleek, and I do not wear it despite loving the color and material. I recently put it in my hold bin and am considering whether I should pass it forward to someone else. I will look at Net-A-Porter first, and maybe I will do a blazer outfit lab.
Ophelia, I think I have a lighter color skirt that might help me see if a change in contrast level would help.
Irina, yes, I like the blazer with my cropped jeans. Cuffs create another horizontal cut so I do not like them for my style.
Angie, thanks so much for your complementary words and suggestions. I love the look of short and cropped jackets on everyone else, and can understand why they would work well with wider leg trousers and with a-line dresses. I hope you share a picture of yourself wearing the Red Hobbs jacket and colorful Boden dress! The colors are so vibrant and happy! I also appreciate your support of my ongoing penchant for long sleek lines. They have become a key element of my signature style!
Slim cat...I like “classic with a twist”!
Thanks!
Smittie, thanks, I am adjusting to my longer length silver hair. It works like a statement accessory, and if I add other statement items things can get too busy. I have had to refine my colors and patterns and the nature of my accessories (necklaces, earrings, glasses frames) so they complement instead of compete with my hair.
Suzieq, Cardiff Girl, I am glad the proportion of this blazer works. I planned to work on improving my outfit proportions this year, but this is really my first post. I plan to continue with more as time permits.
