WIW January 30x30 outfit 25 and 26 Olive All Over attempts

Angie's olive all over ensemble is truly fantastic. I just had to try something like it with my clothes. These are the results of my experiments:

No 1 - I use the same olive dress as in outfit 14 of the 30x30 challenge. On top of the dress, I am wearing an olive green sparkly blazer. To include some element of fun, I tucked a little "money scarf" into the breast pocket of the blazer (see detail in No 2). Then, I added a long brown/bronze colour scarf to echo the colour of the little scarf. I wear dark brown opaque tights, a dark brown patent leather handbag and dark brown high heeled booties (I have the same booties in black, but there is no black in this outfit). I am happy with the colour combination, which for me is very unusual. I am not, however, sure about the proportions and shape, do you guys think it works? And what du you think about the colours?

No 3 - experiment with dark olive - charcoal and layering. I used a dark olive jacket (a real oldie) layered over a silk blouse and added charcoal ponte pants. I added a vintage light olive Cartier silk scarf and a vintage handbag in a similar colour. Metallic patterned booties. Element of fun - a large brown/green glass brooch (detail in No 4) This is a kind of a kitchen sink. What do you guys think?

No 5 is on another note. My first WIW on the Forum and the first 30x30 outfit was a poncho. I am not happy with the outfit and I tried to style the poncho in another way. This is the result. I used a thin knitted sweater under the poncho in the same colour. I wore light grey/beige trousers. I added a beige patterned silk scarf worn short and, my newest second hand brooch - a large horse (this I love, detail in No 6). I wear my dark brown glasses, dark brown patent bag and brown boots (attempt to bookend). This is an unusual outfit for me - low contrast, knitted no structure top, beige colour - but somehow I am not unhappy about it. I am on a mission to defeat this poncho

Katerina, you can do no wrong! Each outfit looks beautiful to me, but I suspect that the reason you are not loving the poncho is that it draws the eye to your generous breasts and may make you look bigger than you are. Have you tried wearing the scarf and bag in 3 with outfit 5? You have such wonderful accessories. What are the booties in 3. They look like they could be worn with the jacket in 1.

#1 is fantastic, money brooch and all. I love the mix of textures and shine all disciplined within the classic and elegant framework of jacket and skirt with boots. You are so good at the harmonious, unexpected element as evident again in #2. I like the poncho outfit. The scarf and brooch point right up to your face, which adds a streamlining element. I have been meaning to respond to your brooch thread - I only have a few but you have inspired me to dig them out!

You are so fab! My favourite is no 1. You have such unique pieces! I love the horse brooch so much! I prefer the poncho the way you have styled it here with the lighter top underneath - more monochromatic and sleek to my eye. I think you could also try a more colourful scarf in no 5 (if you wanted to add more colour near your face) or a darker scarf to echo your bag and shoes. But I like the one you have chosen too because it maintains that sleek monochromatic look.

Hi. I too adore Number 1. That jacket is amazing.

I have a slightly poison eye when it comes to ponchos. I think it goes back to wearing them as rain gear and never having fully adjusted to them as fashion. Ponchos lack the structure that blazers and cardigans provide.

You have come a long way in this Challenge. I am wondering if the original outfit pictures (30x30 outfit 1) don't meet your approval today because you have experimented, grown, and evolved. I agree with everyone that says the newest rendition of the poncho is the best. The lighter colors and accessories draw the eye up to your face. It was the contrasting sleeve that disorientated the eye.

Thank you Brooklyn for the kind words and for the helpful advice. I will try some more with this poncho. I am hopeless in giving up things. But if the feeling does not change, poncho will be demoted to be this warm, cosy item (like a blanket) to be worn over lounge wear or PJs on a chilli winter weekend, and then ....

Sterling, thank you very much! The Challenge has been so very useful to me. All the feedback and ideas from the Forum members have been extremely helpful. The pictures have also been super useful - amazing how much one can see which cannot be seen merely looking in the mirror. I also start to reflect over my feelings and happiness factors in outfits. Maybe the most important part. So I thank you so very much and I am very grateful to you for inspiring me to participate. I will write a challenge evaluation post in the end of the week about all the results and all the knowledge I have acquired.

Love them, as always! 1 is my fave - the color contrast is unexpected and wonderful (and the boots are fab). I like the way you keep 3 low contrast between the jacket and top, and echo those tones with the boots. On 5, do you think tying a scarf the way you do in 1 would give you a vertical line to contrast with the volume of the poncho?

I've been traveling for a week and haven't been keeping up - don't know if anyone has already suggested, I think you need to add Impeccable to your adjectives somewhere.

I think my favorite of this (as always, excellent) batch is the last one. Featuring the poncho in a low-contrast look was such a good idea. The ensemble has a softness, but also your characteristic drama.

Katerina! Olive (all of) your olive all over outfits should be in window displays. I would be through the door in a heartbeat, hoping to find that jacket in my size and a money scarf before they are sold out! Spectacular!

All are beautiful. My fav is #1. The poncho works well with the same color top underneath. It isn't as vibrant as your norm, but it is subtly dramatic and suits you.

My favorite is number 1, follows closely by number 5. The poncho is a softer look for you, but still has your dramatic flair.

Your scarves are fab, as always. Would you consider doing some type of tutorial or summary of the various ways you wear them?

Loved to see your face & those super fab frames with the light tonal outfit in nr 5! What's up with that poncho? I have 2 cream ponchos and only wear the one is open up front, but you did so well styling.your "capey"! And also like nr 1(including prop and color) esp. the textured jacket kind of bouclé&frilled edges, I have a similar to yours, too.

Katerina, I actually rather like that poncho outfit on you. It’s so creamy and soft looking- but the brooch and scarf say “take me seriously- I’m a woman of confidence”- like someone earlier remarked it still has your element of drama. A very fine balance you have struck with that outfit.
