WIW old lace skirt, new lining

Hi all,
Yesterday I picked up my midnight blue lace skirt with a new lining. So happy about the alteration! The old lining was stiff and awkward and the skirt was almost orphaned. With the new lining in a dark shimmery grey it feels soft and very comfy. I can easily dress it up with a nice blouse/heels or sweater/sneakers. I paired it with a cropped knit sweater with raglan sleeve. It was chilly with light rain showers so I added a lightweight duster to keep dry.

The skirt was beautiful before (I love lace), but it looks way better now. I liked how you styled it with sneakers.

Thank you, Dianna! I used to think that lace was a too romantic style for me, but I've learned on YLF how to personalise it and downplay the romantic with pieces that are more casual or edgy.

I just love turning old things into new things! Looks like the new lining is a bit shorter too, so the edge of the lace shows now at the hem. Very pretty.

Thanks, Laura G! Yes, the lining is shorter and I really like that, too. Yay for SYC and it's incredible what such alterations con do. I'm glad I didn't donate it because I find it hard to find pretty lace.

I really like the sneakers with a dress or skirt look – I've been doing that more too, especially on the weekend. Perfect for a trip to farmers market on a warm day, for example. I don't think I would have thought of doing it with a lace skirt, but it looks great.

Dianna, so happy you like it and that it looks more current! I've found that I like looking current. Trendy less important to me.
Staysfit, it's really important to feel comfortable, I think, but not in a too casual way.
