WIW: Now with more blonde

Hi all

I have had a lot going on and haven’t had much time to participate in the forum or take photos. Feeling very tired and in need of a break. But I am on holiday now (yay!) and thought I’d share the outfit that I wore to the Xmas lunch that I have every year with my girlfriends.

The only new item is the skirt. Graphic black and white floral AND asymmetrical, it had my name on it. It has a subtle ruffle and small split at the front and makes a satisfying swish as I walk.

And I have gone blonder! I was after a more intense ombré/dip dye look so the blonde is concentrated at the ends. What do you think?

Pic 3: my girlfriends gave me this Michael Kors bag for Xmas at lunch. Good choice!

Pic 5: I took this pic on the walk home from the restaurant because it was such a lovely day. And of course it’s been a while since I have shown my Aussie hat! As I have mentioned before, I have a large head so this is a man’s hat (size extra large!) It’s a bit rough and ready but I kind of like it. I did NOT wear it at the restaurant. I also wore the scarf on the walk home in case there was a southerly buster (cool change) or if I needed it for sun protection.

The blonde highlights look super playful for summer. I really love your blue blouse and the pattern mixing with the clutch and skirt. Fun!

I've missed seeing your WIWs. Your new hair colors so dimensional - I love it.

The outfit is perfectly done. Love the cobalt blue on you. And I am taking notes on the way you belted the top with such a distinctive belt. I tend to not tuck in or belt with my short waist, but this low contrast against the shorter top might be a great way to elongate the torso a bit but still get some waist definition.

Angie, thank you! A K2K is a lovely Xmas gift. Now that you mention it, I do see the Star Wars vibe. How exciting! I have had a big year with a death in the family, my mum requiring a lot of extra care (much like your dad) and a lot of professional challenges. A rest will be nice. Hope you get some too.

Thanks JAileen, that makes me feel better. Every time I see a hat store I try on every hat in the place (even the so called “one size fits all” hats). None of them ever fit. So I hang on to this one.

Thanks Karen. It’s nice to be missed! With the belt, I just kind of semi tuck the front of the top behind the front buckle/circles of the belt and let the back of the top drape over the top of the back of the belt. I think it gives a more relaxed look than a full tuck and you get that slight waist definition and interest provided by the buckles (or circles in this case). Similar to this (older) photo. I hope you give it a try!

Thanks SF! We book the lunch around August and then the organiser (one of the group) sends us a reminder every few weeks with a count down of the number of days remaining until the lunch. It’s a lot of fun. I really look forward to it.

Thanks Joy! I was a natural blonde until about age 12 so I think the colour can work for me. My mum likes me with blonde hair because it reminds her of that, but not so much with straight hair. I will go wild and woolly with the hair on Xmas day, just to make her happy.

I cannot imagine having Christmass in summer like you those in the southern hemisphere always have, but wow, gorgeous skirt and surely has had your name on!:-) Oh, and have just seen the second outfit the all blacks wich is also a mastestyler with the perfect semituck over the wide belt-more of these please!

Thanks Lyn! I do like wearing a belt sometimes but I need the right weather for it. Anything tucked or belted can be uncomfortable in the heat. And it’s 36 today! But we are expecting a cool change for Xmas.

Thanks Sterling! I am obsessed with ombré. (Along with floral and chevron.) I would have a closet full of ombré if it were more available. I also inflict it on my husband. I bought him an ombré shirt for Xmas (shhhh!) And I previously got him an ombré jumper.

Thanks Bijou! The weather has been pretty good here - not too hot. I have been taking it easy sleeping in and watching the BBL. (Not really into sports but I like the BBL.) There was a beautiful blonde in the crowd at the Boxing Day game who looked a lot like you! Hope you had a great Xmas too xx
