Thank you to new commenters! BJ, I haven’t really transitioned the work clothing as yet. I still had a lot of work- appropriate clothing that was/is moderately dressy without seeming corporate or “office”. And I still really like those clothes, think I would wear them on weekends or out to dinner or whatever when not working, so will continue to use them while they are still in good nick.
Today- shout-out to JamC who went there while visiting Auckland in January- on a day off we have been on the ferry to Waiheke with two good friends, now that all 4 of us are 65 we can go for free! We went further on the bus than last time and had a restaurant lunch overlooking a beautiful beach. My outfit could go to work but with different shoes (I wore the Skechers today and took a puffer jacket.)
I want to be able to stop work or take long breaks once husband stops covering the young vet’s maternity leave hopefully later this year. But I feel he might find it very difficult to let go of his professional identity as well. We’ll see.
Bijou, I hope you get more years with your GP but 30 years is a long time!

Jenni, I appreciate the shout-out! I went back to my photos to relive the wonderful day there.
We loved Waiheke Island! Such a beautiful place! We saw 2 lovely beaches, visited Sacred Blessing Sanctuary Garden which was very unique, then had a fantastic dinner at a winery before taking the ferry back to Aukland!
You are so lucky to be a bus and ferry ride away.

Looking fab, Jenni-maybe it also has to do with having had some rest in between the old and new job. I love all the neutrals here, and zebra pants matches your silver hair-which is always a bonus!

Very brave and result you to begin in this new practice setting. Best wishes for a great fit. It sounds kind a good way to a more satisfying retirement by having more time now to add just a few activities. It is often advised to start “ retirement “ before a retired, but can be difficult in jobs that require many hours & intense engagement. So I found, anyway.
Those colors look great on you , plus a nice balance of solids & print.

Retirement seems to be hard on workhorses! I’m just now really learning to slow down to where my energy and feelings are.
Dropped in to say how very harmonious that outfit is on you.
