This week I'm following torontogirl's "no jeans" challenge. To tailor it to my case, the rules I set are the following :
- Challenge runs for the work weak, which means 5 outfits. Very casual workplace, no dress code, and no special meeting or event this week.
- Dark wash and black bootcut jeans, my usual outfit staples, are prohibited.
- My olive trousers, whose material is close to denim (thickness and weave), are OK as they feel more like cargos without pockets.
- Since I aim at evaluating how heavily my wardrobe is dependent on jeans, I will avoid re-using tops and toppers for different outfits.
As of now I have composed the following outfits.
- #1 : olive trousers, light grey floral tee and a white jacket. I added an elephant necklace, brown booties and my white bag. The colors of this outfit are much lighter than what I'm used to wearing, but I felt very happy with the result. I have the intuition that the white jacket, which I had only worn once before for work, will become a workhorse.
- #2 : I got inspiration from yesterday's Corporette challenge outfit (introduced by MsMary) and went for a column of color. Navy wide-leg trousers, navy tee, and a sage green blazer. I added a dark floral scarf which may break the column of color, but helps linking navy and sage. I took my blush robot bag and black booties, and I'm feeling happy with this outfit as well.
These outfits seem consistent with my usual silhouette and style moniker GI Princess even if they don't feature my beloved dark wash bootcuts : olive/sage and sturdy booties have a slight military flair, floral prints and light colors are more feminine. But I'm already short on ideas. Next days will be harder!
