WIW: Mural & VC Tube

This is my debut of the Mural NAS jacket. It's still 90+ here during the days but chilly in the mornings plus arctic a/c at work. I'm wearing it with a gray AT knit top and a black VC tube skirt. I am really happy with this whole outfit (#1/2).

I also added a pic #3 w/out the jacket just for educational purposes. I'm trying to get better at figuring out why I don't like an outfit instead of just going with my gut feeling. My guess is that the jacket creates a vertical line which is why I like this outfit with the jacket but not without. Any other ideas? Thanks for looking! (Try to overlook the pony-tailed hair, I'm way overdue for a cut!!)

Great outfit. Just think how easy it will be to change it up with boots or flats when summer is over. So pretty! I don't see anything wrong with 3 but the jacket really adds a lot of visual interest. Have you tried tucking the blouse to lengthen the line? I think outfits looks more harmonious when they are divided into visual thirds rather than halves. Just my 2 cents. You look gorgeous!

Fab! Yet another amazing tube skirt outfit that I'll have to remember for staying inspiration. I agree that this is fantastic with the jacket. It's good without the jacket too, but to my eye the jacket creates a strong shoulder line that balances the skirt. I know cap sleeves don't get much love here but I really like them for situations where I need to strengthen my sloping shoulder line and it's too hot for a jacket. Or you could try a top with some horizontal embellishment at the shoulder.

Thanks everyone. Diane - I think my favorite part of this jacket is the strong shoulder line. I've also had good luck with some capped sleeves. Anything to offset the sloping shoulders.

Fabulous outfit! I love how the jacket almost becomes a vest because of the neutral top matching its sleeves.

I think you and Diana are both correct. The jacket does offer a nice crisp vertical line. But it's the horizontal lines across the shoulder that really amp up the look.
