An Eileen Fisher outfit today- cropped harem pants and linen top. The top is actually quite purple, not blue as it appears. The sandals are Tsubo. I forgot to get a picture of the bag with my outfit so here it is on my desk! It's Kate Spade and my husband got it for me at a charity auction.

Suggestions for improvement always welcome!

You are all so sweet! Thank you for reinforcing my own thoughts which is that I LOVE these pieces and I LOVE wearing them! I am grateful to work in an office where this is perfectly fine to wear.

I had another shoe on this morning too - the shoe below except in black (not sure why I have this photo??)- and this one did feel a bit more flattering to the leg line. I've had this pair since last year and I've worn them a ton. Whatever will I do when they wear out?!

kerry, I'm not sure about the very first piece but one of the first I got probably 7 years ago and I still wear it. It's a soft open front cardigan in black with scattered jet beads- not too much bling, just enough to feel festive. I still love it and it has survived lots of purges!

I do know that I have more EF pieces in my closet than any other brand. The aesthetic appeals to me- lots of nice, natural fabrics in rich, solid colors- and a lot of the styles fit my apple shape. I am into drapey shapes these days and I like pieces that incorporate interesting texture or small details- that's more 'me' than a lot of patterns are. This linen top, for example, has a hi low hem, dropped shoulder seams and ribbing on the lower sleeves and bottom hem.

Take a look and try some on! They are pricey but some are definitely more reasonable than others. I've bought some things on sale but most of the items that I've paid full price for have paid off for me. Oh and you can find a lot of it on ebay too though I've personally not had a lot of luck with that.

ETA: Macy's often gets a bad rap here but I've found EF stuff on their clearance rack (in the small designer section) from time to time.

Yep. This is a terrific outfit. You see, this is why so many women flock to EF -- she gets it. Now, if she would only make smaller sizes, and if J. Crew would only make larger sizes........

Amy: If you made a pair, you could tweak them until the fit was right -- perhaps a more modified crotch point?
