WIW jacket/colors OK?

I'm just trying to pair my denim jacket with dress pants, like in some of the recents posts. This is a tough challenge for me since I wouldn't normally wear denim with black & white dressy anything! In fact, I never seem to know what to wear a denim jacket with, which is why this looks new when it is a few years old - it just hangs in my closet
Do the pants and top look OK together with the jacket? Should I do a shirt/top of a different style/color?

KT I think this looks good and I relate to you with regard to the denim jacket. I don't wear mine a lot and it has taken some time to get used to pairing it with dressier items. My only suggestion is that a longer top under the jacket would look good. I think that would create a slightly more modern vibe. Love the pink on you. This does work.

I've given up on denim jackets for this reason, at least the classic blue denim jacket. I think this works fine but it sounds like you find it a bit meh, and I think with some creativity (scarf, jewelry, etc.) you could punch it up. Or just be like me and give up!

I have one and wear it with everything except blue jeans. My favorites are sand colored casual slacks, and colorful t shirts. When I wear blue jeans I pair them with casual jackets of other colors. My new favorite is a dark olive green with contrast stitching.

I think the slacks in your picture would work better with a darker denim jacket.

Thank you all for your suggestions! I don't have a darker jacket, so maybe I should try it with either lighter or darker pants, or perhaps with a longer button down shirt, in white? The style journey continues...

I really like this on you. The proportions and colors are totally fine. This is a great way to style a denim jacket, as AG mentioned, a scarf or longer necklace would add interest but may compete with the earrings. I would try different bottoms too. I like your idea of a white button front shirt with this. You just need to park this jacket where you can see it and start wearing it, it looks like a good fit!

Just popping back to say that a more cropped style could work better for you. I just DIY'd one of my longer ones and I "think" I am going to get more wear out if it with dresses and skirts in the Spring.

This outfit is lovely but I do like the idea mentioned above to wear with a longer top. I find for myself I prefer my denim jacket paired with non denim items best (even with white denim I feel like too much denim) and with mixed proportions such as a long dress or tunic length top (or even a shirt untucked if the jacket is cropped).

I think this looks nice! I personally like to have some length contrast when I wear my denim jackets so it looks more purposeful; in this outfit, I'd like to see a longer top but I do think the jacket works quite well here. This particular one looks too long for dresses, though, it could work as a longer layer with a shirt+tucked top outfit.
