WIW: Hit, miss or off by a mile? (ETA uncuffed pic)

Ok first off, I'm a little grumpy that these jeans fit me, because they were miles to big a few months ago! They're still roomy though so all is not lost.

Does this work at all? Is wearing cropped pants over boots done anymore? I know it was a trend a few seasons ago.

Response from the kidlets was mixed. DS said I looked like a builder (albeit a ladylike one) and DD said a horse rider.

I get what DD is saying - there's something very horse riderish about this outfit, maybe the belt? The boots? I dunno - that's what I thought too!

I like this outfit though - I think the jeans are loose on you, but it works with this look and the roll in the bottom makes them less cropped.

Well IMHO it looks good and would look great if you switched out the boots for a cute flat or sandal or even a bootie. I'm not a fan of cuffing pants over boots- maybe because I did it in the 70's.

It's winter here, thus the boots... but in summer I would normally wear these jeans with flat shoes for sure!

I am hoping by the coming summer they are miles too big again and I can retire them once and for all. For now, they will be my boyfriendish cropped jeans.

I actually love the look. Cropped pants over boots is a cool, alternate look and I like it a lot. I haven't quite mastered it to work for me yet but I plan to:)

Her looks are not quite the same but Odssey rocks crop pant/boot look.

I'm another one who feels the jeans are a tad loose for you. There is maybe just a bit too much overall volume with your top as well. I do like the idea of it though, as Deb illustrates, it can look a bit alternate and cool.

l like the idea, what about rolling the jeans lower (maybe a few inches from the ankle) and wearing a pair of booties instead?

I like the jeans a lot! My first instinct was also to want to see some skin between the boot and the cuff, but I think my mind is also in summer mode. You look terrific!

Love the top and belt, Hil! I do think the jeans are loose but it could be the way you are standing. I like kkards suggestion about rolling them a little lower, that might be what is throwing you off?

I really like the idea of this, actually. Play with rolling to get the proportions you like best. The jeans are loose and look "boyfriendish." Not a bad thing at all in my books!

Thanks for feedback! I felt pretty good dressed like this - I'm trying to analyse what it was about it that I enjoyed.

The jeans are actually cropped jeans that end in a rather unflattering place, so I think rolling them worked best, proportion wise.

I'm not crazy about the overall look, but that's probably because it's so far from my personal style. I agree with some others that the jeans could be more fitted, but maybe the baggier look is what you are going for. I think you are awesome for attempting this outfit.

I really like how you've styled the top in your second picture (with jeans unrolled). You totally have to remember this one.

I'm very close to liking the unrolled jeans, but they're too long. The rolled version hits at the right place.

I will tell you this look is not for the faint of heart and a little pirate-y. But I am the queen of quirky, am I not, and I think you're doing quirky right. This look might to go on my fave's list for you.
