I love how much interest the scarf adds. This is an easy breezy outfit with plenty of interest and texture given the neutral palette.

This is really sharp with the jacket done up and scarf to top it off. Like you're ready to trek through urban streets.

Rabbit - this is a divine outfit on you!! I love every element. Great scarf!! Kudos on being so handy. Those boots are so fantastic. Blazer, pants - really wonderful!!

Thanks rabbit for the thorough reply. I am now itching to try and make my own scarf You are right, the success rate of getting the right one for me is so much higher.

Btw, what kind of table would be more suitable for this work? Couldn't ironing table be of help? (I haven't seen the films yet, the answer might be there.)

I was thinking about this outfit a lot and it dawned on me that one reason I fell for it is the scarf itself. I browse Hermes scarves every now and then (my dream purchase, or it was until I saw your post), and this year I finally saw some that I really like. See the connection and the reason for my obsession

Ornella - I think any table where you can sit comfortably and pin one side in place. If I had a quilting hoop even that might work - Or one of those padded lap desks where you could use a clip attached to the side to hold the fabric. I sat at my kitchen table with a heavy book weighing down one corner sometimes.

Two practical things I'm sure you will think of - the pattern has to work cut into the shape you want, and it's best when the color and pattern is saturated and crisp on both sides of the fabric.

Those scarfs are amazing looking. You might not find fabric that cool, but it's worth searching for

Wow, that's brilliant! The outfit and the idea both. Way past my patience but now I'm wondering if I could find material I like and pay a tailor to do that. Whatever it cost would likely be less than the $100 plus some scarves go for.

Stunning! The scarf adds so much interest to an already amazing outfit and it suits you beautifully. Pants look fine to me too, like this silhouette a lot. The scarf is simply gorgeous and you did excellent working finishing it.

I did a scarf last summer (at the last minute) to bring my travel capsule together. Went to the fabric store just looking for colours. Was lucky in that at the last minute found a sort of modal t-shirt fabric that didn't require hemning.
Please ignore outfit, cleaning house clothes, was just trying on to see what scarf looked like. The funny thing is I am not attracted to the pattern of the scarf at all but was what I could find in the required colours. I wore it almost every day and really like it...

I vote all renditions as fabulous - and the first two as killer. xo

I think you look stunning.

Thanks Angie and IK!

Peri - I think finding someone to do it for you makes sense, especially if the way the machine hemmed ones look works for your fabric, but there are probably tailors/seamstresses who will hand sew too. The fabric I got was much cheaper than a finished scarf would have been, and less expensive than ebay.

Freckles - that's a very versatile scarf! I like the colors and it looks good on you. That kind of t-shirt fabric is perfect because of the lack of hemming. I've seen some t-shirt loop scarfs for sale, and that's where 'why not DIY?' really makes sense to me.

Absolutely gorgeous!! I love every one of these and the jacket and scarf combo literally made me catch my breath. What a beautiful outfit. I love the grey Pleoine top on you as well. And I think you can wear those leggings as pants with this type of shirt no problem.

This is a really well put together look, classy and interesting

Stunning look, Rabbit, and you are so clever and creative, too! The combination of the jacket, scarf and boots in photo #1 is a perfect outfit IMHO.

Wow, you look fantastic in all of these. The first picture with the coat and scarf blows me away.
