Inspired by Greyscale, I bought the Gap velvet kimono top and as she said, it is soft, supple, beautifully cut and looks more expensive than it is IMO. I originally wasn't going to buy it because I thought it would work better on someone who was taller with broad shoulders, but I after I felt it I couldn't let it go!
As Greyscale said, it is wide but collapses against the body beautifully. It is very soft and comfortable and I can see it being ideal for casual holiday get togethers. I plan to wear it with a thin turtleneck underneath next or with a lacy camisole perking it from underneath to extend the length.
If you are interested, the length is key. Note the length on me - I am 5'3".
Would love to hear what you think - honestly. Does it work on my short curvy body or is it better on someone taller with a stronger shoulder line? Looking at the photos again, I think perhaps it cuts me at my widest part and may be better to wear with a darker bottom to create a column of colour? I had worn washed out grey jeans because I liked the juxtaposition with the rich velvet.
