WIW: frocking it? - YouLookFab Forum

I suddenly have a couple of dresses in my wardrobe... I never had any dresses for ages. As it happens I've worn two in a row now. Might have something to do with having shaved my legs yesterday

So the black dress - I wasn't terribly excited by this. Somehow it just feels too dressy for my job - maybe because it is black. The strap on the black wedges I wanted to wear broke, so I went with the red ones.

Today is a scorcher, so I decided on the cotton frock. I don't love the dress on its own - the whole outfit feels a little frou frou, but I do like it with the denim jacket. Only problem is i know I won't keep the jacket on for long.

A question : there is a floral pattern on the bows my shoes and a different pattern on my dress. Is this of any consequence, good or bad?

I love your "frocking" black dress - I think the long necklace and the open toed shoes (gorgeous, by the way) read more casual of a vibe, and I think this is what you're going for at your workplace? If so, I really like it

To be honest, I didn't notice the floral pattern difference on your shoes and on your dress until you mentioned it! I don't think it matters - the ones on your footwear are neutral in colour.

And the floral dress with the denim jacket reminds me of spring. Also, I cannot make out the difference between the floral pattern on the shoes and the dress. In fact, I thought the shoes were neutrals! Great outfits!

I think both of these outfits look great! I love the pop of red in the shoes with the black dress - I think it lifts the entire outfit. I like the floral dress as well and think the jacket gives it a great extra touch of style. Like Asingh, I can't see the difference in fabric in the pictures here. The fact that it isn't standing out, tends to make me feel like it isn't a biggie. You can always put a pair of "neutral" shoes onto your future shopping list if it really bothers you! (I personally find it useful to identify "holes" like this in my wardrobe, so that when I go shopping, I do so sensibly, without getting carried away...)

I love the black dress and how you styled it! I'm going to have to copy this:). The floral dress is pretty and I agree the denim jacket adds that little something. I am wondering if a more cropped to the waist denim jacket might just work a bit better and create a lovely shaped silhouette.

Love the black dress with red shoes! And the floral dress with denim jacket is great too...the shoes look great with it. I agree with Deborah, a shorter cropped denim jacket would accentuate your lovely waist.

I like both dresses! The beads and red shoes are really great with the black dress. The denim jacket looks good with the floral dress but I know what you mean about not wearing the jacket all day. In the summer I have that problem too.
