As for the gifts: apparently there is a limit on the gift cost when it is shipped over the border: I think it is $60 or 70. I think they can let it go without taxes up until $ 100 but then you would need to pay. If the sender cuts the tags and declares the lower value it may work...it is really annoying, you would think that gift is a gift...
