WIW: Fall of a sudden - YouLookFab Forum

Where I live, we went from temperatures in the triple digits one Friday to highs in the 60s and low 70s a week later. This time of year, the weather is often a little schizophrenic, so I was happy to keep wearing white after Labor Day and try out some other new combinations.

Thanks for looking! I welcome your suggestions and critique.

1. Hot weather, hot date with DH. I'm always tempted to ditch the goofy little belt that came with this dress, but DH likes it and I haven't come up with a better option.

2. I jumped at the excuse to pull out my favorite Aigner boots to go watch a parade on Saturday morning. I don't know if you can see the pattern mixing, but the shirt has a subtle black/cognac stripe that clicks just right with the colors of the Loft sweater.

3. This JCrew jacket hasn't been out to play nearly often enough. The 3/4 sleeve is challenging to me. I like it with this sleeveless dress from The Limited. I think a heel would have been better, but this dress feels short when I put it on and I reach for flats to keep it closer to the ground.

4. This checked, sleeveless shirt was in the giveaway bag because it's way too big, but layered under this cotton tee, it lived to see another day. Khaki shorts are also on my un-favorites list, but this outfit felt pretty cute. DO two wrongs sometimes make a right?

Your outfits certainly show how your weather changed. Summer dress to jeans and boots! You look great! I'm not quite so sure about the proportions in #3. Maybe its the boxiness of the jacket, I don't really know, but #4 works really well so the shirt was a good save. And in #2 your legs look a mile long! I love the rich leather boots and white jeans in #2 also.

Hey, are you by any chance a member of Team Prep? Love the madras plaid.

I especially like outfits 2 and 4! The sweater is lovely on you. I hear you on the complementary prints. Sometimes that doesn't show too much in photos when they are light. It's fun in real life, though.

Thank you, Diane! I'm not sure about the jacket either. Maybe an outfit lab of sorts is in order so I can figure out how to wear it better.

These are such fun outfits. You look great in your dresses and shorts--glad you are getting to enjoy the bare-legs look a little bit more. I had the same reaction as Diane to the jacket and dress. The jacket seems to overwhelm the dress, in my view. So maybe try a shorter or less substantial topper, like a shrug? The dress length is fine--I like your idea of wearing it with flats.
Good save on the shirt and shorts in the last outfit. I'm not sure 2 wrongs make a right, as in keeping the items around, but this outfit works nicely. If you aren't really enjoying the pieces, though, you might pass them on after the season has really ended, so you can make room for new favorites next year.

Love the dress in #1 on you so much! You look great in #4 too. It looks like you'd be right at home on a fancy yacht in that.
