Nice! Pink and black is one of my favourites, but pink seems to be going extinct in my wardrobe. I actually have this exact Everlane shirt in blue, added because I've been a little desperate for solid-colour tops since adding three (three!) pairs of printed pants over the course of the fall and winter. It's a great oxford -- they really got the shape and proportions right. I agree that the square version was a bit off/too much volume.

Like you, I refused to wear pink as a kid, but started adding it "ironically" in high school. I had a pink Yak Pak messenger bag (remember those?!) and matching pink Chuck Taylors. Oh gosh, I guess I was truly matchy at one point... hah!

Great look! I like to wear pink but only like it when I can tone down the girly aspect of the color. I tend to pair it with black as well.

LaPed, I’d forgotten about yak pak.

I almost bought pink converse last year... I just had black ones as a teen but my cousin always had the coolest color combinations. Even wore mismatched colors for left and right.

This is such a good look on you, and this soft icy pink works so well with your hair! It's so fab!
I am just intrigued by why you call this outfit preppy? It's edgy, smart, very stylish, androgynous. Is it because pale pink is associated with the preppy style?

Krishnidoux, you’re right that the outfit itself is not at all preppy! But pink oxford shirts had such a prep connotation, when I was growing up in Connecticut (the land of prep schools and maybe the birthplace of preppy style).

Ah, I see now! Well, preppy or not, this color is fabulous on you. And I think other pastels should look good too.

I did the mismatched Chucks thing all through college!

That's a great look. I haven't ever worn oxford shirts, but this might inspire me to look for some. I just got black boots this weekend, too. Hmmm.

Love this ... so glad you have embraced pink, it suits you!

That is a great shirt, and I love how you're wearing it here. This is how I would wear pink, if I wore it!

This colour is so flattering on you! I actually think (some) redheads are among the most flattered by pink! (It all depends on the undertones of course). What a fantastic outfit. It's terrific with the moto and jeans.

This shirt is lovely it gives you a fabulous look. A fan of shirts

I love it. Perfect fit. Perfect color.

Lovely colour on you and a great fit. I hear you on the ick factor when it comes to pink, but I’ve found that lighter shades make a versatile and flattering neutral.

Much like you, I too, was allergic to pink. Until one day I wasnt.

I LOVE how you're doing pink. <3<3

Same Greyscale, same La Pedestrienne—allergic, then ironic, and now it has been my signature color for more than 20 years. My favorites are fuchsia plus the shade that makes everyone shudder—bubblegum/ Pepto. I happen to be wearing bubblegum jeans as I write this. Pink solidarity!

I agree that pink looks so good on redheads... check out other photos from that blogger featured yesterday, Forever Amber. I love her best in pink.

Ah, pink! I almost always love it on others but on me sometimes I feel it's just too "sweet." And I love a bit of edge with my outfits so... I feel your struggle! You pull this off beautifully - did you try the blouse with a half or partial tuck?

Today I'm wearing a pink blouse (it's got a gray pattern on it) and paired it with a solid wine colored scarf, black cropped jeans, and my black leather jacket. Light sand boots kept it from feeling too wintry/heavy.

Yesterday I wore a POWDER PINK BLAZER (GASP) but kept the rest black - patterned black blouse (with splashes of blush florals in it), black BR trousers, and black velvet flats.

I also think our funky glasses help - yours have that delightful shape and unusual hue, and mine are fairly dramatic black and gold. Between the specs, leather, and a healthy dose a black, I think we can keep that edge and still heap on the pink

Speaking of pink, I'm oddly drawn to this Free People shoe in this pink color. I do have a scarf in a similar shade, and I have the Ted Baker bag pictured here, which would look pretty great with those shoes and one of my typical black-and-denim or white-and-denim outfits. I'm sorely tempted to try them. Would be a wildcard for sure!

That could work well for you, Janet! In this case I think the intense metallic pink works better than a softer shade.

I'm eyeing those shoes in silver after Angie's post... or I was, and then I decided I preferred the black. This is how it always goes...

(And hm, all my flats are d'orsay of one type or another. I wonder why I'm so drawn to them.)
