Love it! But I think you should not do up the bottom button. It needs to flare out behind you when you walk. Also, as a petite, undoing the last button or two draws the eye upward and balances your slim hips. (I know this because I've got similar issues!).

If it were my coat I'd wear it all the time. Who doesn't want to feel like Sherlock? But I'd probably wear it only with a chunky heel. Longer coats make me feel stumpy for the same reason that longer skirts do, so I need a bit of a heel to compensate. But I think you could probably get away with it with those buckled boots.

Love the sweater over dress outfit!

Re: the coat. I think what's throwing me is that the whole thing looks too long in the middle region somehow. I agree that removing a button might help aesthetically but it's a coat. It should stay closed and warm. What's the point of having a long coat if it doesn't keep your legs warm? I wonder if adding something at the TOP might help. Like a toggle closure maybe? Something bigger to draw the eye upward. I feel like it also might need more of a collar but that's not really something fixable.

Or... I wonder if you could have a zipper inserted, then put buttons or toggles only on the upper half.

I think is dates too, the way it flares on the bottom.. This seasons is all about straight coats, but if you love it and it's warm, follow your heart

you need a man coat.
it totally rocks your aesthetic, would be formal
There is also the male/female juxtaposition of wearing a dress under a man coat that would also fit your style persona and have the unexpected feminine wow factor once removed/unwrapped if you will?

cashmere man coat.

that's my wisdom and solution for the day!

okay, I realize a lot of folks, including Angie, think it looks dated or not your style. A good many skirts are now being shown fitted to further down the hips and then flaring out. What would it look like if you had the coat skirt taken in to reflect that? Here's a picture of the first skirt that popped up that was in these proportions.

Diana said my thoughts exactly - the middle section of the coat looks too long. The waist looks like it's closer to your hips. I love the drama of it though.

Love your outfit!
