Here's my outfit for a fun date night with my guy.
The cords are Ann Taylor modern fit.
I like the grey cords. As I look at the picture, the top could be a little longer--would be more flattering if it hit a tiny bit lower. Between having narrow shoulders, being busty, and short waisted, it's challenging to find tops that fit right!
Would be interested in other suggestions for how to style these pants.
The funny thing is that the grey cords are the same size and fit as the jeans (#4) that feel too tight, that I'm planning to return.

I like the jade top with the grey jeans! And the burgundy handbag works with the jade! Lovely 'autumn colours'!

Happy date night. Grey is a great neutral and works well with so many other colours. I see what you mean about the other pair of pants being too small - maybe they were mislabeled.

What a fantastic colour combo!! I do find that the fit between different fabrications is often different - especially with cords. I think corduroy is more stretchy.

I love the jade and gray combination. And it's amazing how one size fits in one thing, but not in the other.

In terms of the size--Maybe corduroy just stretches more than denim. Or perhaps the pants are cut differently. Funny.

In terms of these "fall" colors and fabrics --we get cool nights and little hot summer weather here in the Bay Area...so this is probably a year round outfit.

I do love the grey cords as well, I used to have some and wore them out. Maybe it's time for a replacement! Very versatile pants and they look great on you.

I love the grey cords. They remind me of my grey jeggings, which I love to wear. You look ready for a date: Able to walk a mile? Check. Simple and understandable? Check. Still cute? Check

I love the colors of both tops on you, very flattering. I have noticed that with Ann Taylor on occasion - the fit varies between different fabrics even if they're supposed to be the same cut. Guess that's just what happens sometimes.

I think the gray cords look great on you, perfect in fact. Turquoise (or is it jade) and lavender are both very flattering. I'm also short waisted and have trouble with tops. I just bought a much longer top that I haven't posted yet. In fact, I haven't cut the tags off. It's both long and slightly lose (it's not a knit). It's different from what I usually wear, so adjusting to it is difficult, but I'm hoping I've just discovered a new and flattering style for my short waisted self. Perhaps something like that could work for you.

I echo what Catnip says about longer and looser tops as something to experiment with if you want to try something different, although the color and fit of this cardigan look good on you.

I have gray skinny cords (two pairs actually) and they do stretch out much more than denim with time in my experience. I wear them with gray/taupe booties or suede taupe tall boots when I'm going for a tonal/leg lengthening look and with black flat combat type booties with them rolled or tucked when I'm going for more of a military look. I think I also wear them with silver flats sometimes? Depending how they work with the top. Your pair looks great.

Catnip and Rabbit -- thank you! Would love to see pictures of the kinds of tops you mean. I definitely could use some new ideas about what kinds of tops would work for me.

I love jade/ green so you got me It's great paired with grey. What about trying a slightly looser sweater, maybe with a dipped hemline at the back. You could get a fun belt too and dip a toe into semi-tucking to show it off.
