Thanks, everyone. It felt so amazing to go out again! We actually dined outside (in a sort of partly covered, heated patio with glass partitions between tables) so it all felt very safe despite the fact that the place was PACKED. It helps that cases are way way down on the Island and vaccine uptake the highest in BC. There are a lot of old people here, LOL. We want those shots and happily line up for them!
Irina, I find the Ontario rules on salons so peculiar. We've actually had salons open almost through the whole pandemic (except the first 6 or 8 weeks). They have strict guidelines and everyone needs to be masked, which makes it a bit tricky at times, but overall the experience has been fine and I have felt confident. It helps that I go to a place with only one chair now! And even my Vancouver salon limited themselves to two chairs.
Lisa, YAY!! It sounds like you might get shot 2 before I get shot 2. Technically, I should get called by the end of the month to book, but they said the wait can be three weeks from call time. Friends in Ontario are mostly double vaxxed now, so I'm biting the bit, but I also know they've had to hustle to get shots and shop around, whereas I just patiently wait for an email notice. I guess there are advantages to both systems.
Also, totally with you on how weird it felt to get "dressed up." I put on lipstick but then had to mask up in the restaurant common spaces. Oh well!
Jaileen, aren't the earrings fun? They are a sort of mirrored resin. Light as air.
Angie, thank you. SO glad I got this dress. It really is a lovely and classic item. I owe it to you because you recommended it!!
Shevia, thank you! We're still way behind Israel but getting closer to fine...
Carambola, Jenna - thank you.
Joy, it sounds a bit frustrating for you there. Many places are still on more limited hours here, also, with a lot of restaurants closed early in the week. We were lucky to find this one open (and reserved, of course.)
Brooklyn, thanks!
Janet, yes -- it definitely feels weird to venture out. We still wear masks downtown. I haven't worn a mask in my suburb through the entire pandemic (unless workpeople came into the house) and technically, we don't have to mask up outdoors if we can distance, but downtown I usually do.
Bijou, thank you! You are so sweet. And here's something funny -- I actually thought of YOU when the young woman complimented me! She didn't look like you or dress like you at all. In fact, she was wearing jeans. But I got a sense that she loved the dress because of its femininity and I always associate you with feminine looks, so I almost felt like I was channelling Bijou in wearing it! In other words, that compliment was for you as well as me.
slim cat, that's so great! My kid got the first shot last week, too! We are so relieved.
BJ1111, I laughed out loud at the double waxed. OUCH. And yes, the BC move is permanent (or at least as permanent as these things go.)
Sal, thank you! And good to know the rollout is happening there!
